The Bing Blues
Well, the online world is booming with its content online, gone are the days when it was just Netflix and chill. There was a time when there were only movie theaters and the Netflix came and changed the scenario and called it “Netflix and Chill”. Now there are tons of players fighting for your attention and boy they are as good as the anyone out there. Some might argue that they lack the aura of going out there and watching It on a big screen and I am not here to tell you that it’s not true but sitting in your bedroom with your favorite mug of coffee and having the luxury of a home cooked popcorns is second to none. Then it offers to go on and on and that’s what I call a real luxury. The best part is the fact they don’t come with hefty prices either, a subscription for a month costs a little over a ticket of a one movie in the hall and not to mention the food or the traveling expenses.
Meanwhile it is understandable that some of us don’t care about the money in a movie theater and it’s all about experience but We live in a world that is constantly changing in and around us and. there is something about those binge worthy shows that keeps us hinged to our seats. It’s like you are reading a novel for hours. There is a dramatic shift in terms of how we consume content and people are looking for instant gratification. This phenomenon Is common worldwide. We want to own our time and the kind of entertainment too; this leads us to the content online which are absolutely binge-worthy and give us the feeling of being in control and thus a feeling of self-controlled entertainment. The entertainment industry is offering something that wasn’t on the cards a few years ago that is the access to the content worldwide. The industry giants have changed the game of entertainment in such a manner that content is available worldwide and is available in a very wide range of languages too. Then there are shows like Game of thrones that has set the standards not only in terms of viewership but in terms of storytelling & keeping audience hooked to their seats. This has created a new age audience of the extended and interconnected fictional drama that just can’t wait for one episode a week.
In my personal experience the binge watching is as enjoyable as online gaming. Yes, both has its pros and cons and one might win over another but it’s just about what you feel that day. It has certainly created a new audience for the content creators out there. You don’t have to wait for a week to enjoy your loved shows, all you need is an internet connection and of course enough food to make through that weekend.
In the world of newfound entertainment, binge watching has become one of most relaxing and comforting in this ever-growing entertainment space. Surely, one of my favorite things lately.
However, it is important to keep everything in moderation. There are studies that shows that it can lead to addiction and everyone needs to be aware of balancing life and entertainment. That’s the only key to sustainable entertainment.
