The Pitt - 2:00 p.m. - Review: Emotional Rollercoaster

Like every week, The Pitt continues to take us on a rollercoaster of emotions that at one moment has us on the edge of our seats and the next on the verge of tears, and then makes us smile to lighten a little how dense some moments can be.

In this hour we pick up right where we left off last week when we found out that Collins has most likely lost her baby. After leaving the bathroom, she quickly runs to do an ultrasound on herself, and although I think she could have asked for the help of Evans, who is so far apparently the only one who knew about her pregnancy, she prefers not to involve anyone else, but that makes Robby notice that something is off with her but can鈥檛 understand what it is, even when throughout the episode he keeps trying to find out.

Santos' distrust of Langdon's work also continues to grow, as she continues to have suspicions about his handling of some medications, these doubts causes her to approach Garcia, but she tells her that although she has her differences with Langdon, she considers him a good doctor and that she should focus on doing her job since she has only a few hours in the ER.

Among the cases that continue from past episodes, we have the closing of one of the most emotional, Nick鈥檚, because his parents finally make the decision to follow his wishes and donate his organs so he has an honor walk, in the presence of friends, family and hospital staff. Furthermore, Mohan, following his instincts and against Robby's orders, finally confirms that her influencer patient was indeed poisoned with mercury from using a cream. Rita, Ginger's daughter, who seemed to have abandoned her mother in the emergency room, finally returns and explains that she fell asleep in her car and that's why she didn't know they were looking for her. This case also has an emotional closure, as Rita receives an offer of support to take care of her mother and have some time for her.

As for the new cases of the week, there is a man who suffered an amputation of a finger; a patient of Dr. Shamsi, who has severe pain in the abdomen and in the end it鈥檚 the doctor's daughter, Javadi, who discovers what is really wrong with her. In addition, McKay attends to a patient with a strange relationship with her boss, which slowly unravels into something darker that I suppose will continue to develop  in upcoming episodes. A man with a pacemaker problem also arrives at the emergency room, ends up giving a lesson in history and solidarity to the staff of The Pitt.

But no doubt, the most moving part of this episode is the case of Amber, a girl who accidentally fell into the pool at her house to save her little sister Bella, and who unfortunately fails to react despite all the team's efforts. This story leads to a very emotional scene in which King, once again, demonstrates her empathy, as she gives Bella a teddy bear so she can send a message to her sister.

Once again, we get to see the dilemmas, emotions and everything the doctors have to deal with in an emergency room and no matter how hard it is, we are presented with cases that are resolved more favorably and others that sadly are not. And we also get to learn some things, like in this case that they told us about the Freedom House Ambulance Service program, which existed in reality and was the first in the United States to have trained paramedics, who received extensive training to be able to provide advanced medical care in emergency situations.
