Found continues to keep me on the edge of my seat with the latest episode, "Missing While Misunderstood". This one really digs into the emotional layers of the characters while still delivering the thrilling mystery the show is known for. It feels like we’re getting more and more depth with each of the characters, especially as we learn about their pasts. The case of TJ is particularly gripping—his story is full of unexpected twists and painful truths, but there's this underlying sense of hope as things unfold. It’s not just about solving the mystery—it’s about understanding the people involved and the impact everything has on them, which is what really gets to me. With its perfect balance of suspense and emotional storytelling, Found keeps proving why it’s such a standout show.

The below contains spoilers for Found, "Missing While Misunderstood". Save this review for later if you didn’t watch it live!

The episode begins with a suspenseful note as the M&A team waits for the sun to rise, waiting for DCPD to show up. While the anticipation builds, Margaret makes a sad discovery: a wall commemerating all the lost cases M&A has encountered.

Gabi heads to M&A to find Sir has broken into their office. But instead of encountering the looming threat of her captor, she meets two new clients—Tracy and Martin, the biological and foster fathers of TJ, a boy who has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. The complicated family dynamic between Tracy and Martin, who have both been involved in TJ’s life in different ways, becomes central to the episode’s emotional weight. Tracy’s recovery from addiction and Martin’s role in TJ’s troubled past suggest a deep layer of unresolved conflict, but both fathers are now desperate to find their son.

As Gabi listens to the fathers’ desperate plea for help, she discovers more details about the case. His childhood was marked by instability, moving between homes because of his biological parents’ struggles, which adds a heartbreaking layer to the case. The real shock comes when it’s revealed that Tracy has been getting payments from Maryland, adding a twist to the situation. These payments seem to be linked to the adoption of Tracy’s other child, hinting at some shady dealings that go well beyond TJ’s disappearance.

As Gabi and the team dig deeper into the case, they uncover a series of revelations. Home security footage reveals TJ meeting Max. He had been arrested shortly after, and put in a group home. This new lead takes the investigation into darker territories, as the team learns that the group home where TJ was forced to stay has a history of violence and neglect. The facility had been shut down two years prior after the death of a child from the flu, only to reopen under questionable circumstances. It’s revealed that another child, Lance, also went missing from the group home and was never found. Could this be tied to TJ’s disappearance? The team is determined to find out.

In a chilling flashback, Sir’s presence is felt again as he breaks into Gabi’s home, looking for the girls. This moment, which initially seems like another frightening chapter in Sir’s pursuit of Gabi, shifts when Gina confronts him, delivering one of the episode’s most intense moments. Gina’s words, designed to strike at Sir’s family history, reveal a strength and resolve in her character that had previously been hinted at but never fully explored. Sir tells her to shoot. Gina can't and he takes the gun. In the end, once the danger is away, Gina pretends like it was a false alarm to not worry the girls.

(Gina has quickly entered my Top Favourite Characters list...)

As the investigation into the group home continues, Gabi and Margaret’s instincts start to piece together a haunting truth: TJ might not be missing at all. In fact, he may have been hidden away after asking too many questions about Lance, the other child who disappeared. The discovery of Lance’s body buried in the backyard by Christina, the group home director, is one of the most shocking moments in the episode. Christina’s actions, motivated by a desire to avoid another shutdown, reveal the terrifying extent to which some people will go to cover up their wrongdoings.

In another emotional moment, the team finds out that TJ is alive, having been hidden by Christina in an attempt to prevent the group home from being shut down once again. The reunification of TJ with his fathers, Tracy and Martin, is a bittersweet conclusion to a case that had seemed hopeless. The fact that they all come together, agreeing to be a family despite their complicated past, adds a sense of closure to TJ’s storyline, which had been fraught with misunderstandings and emotional turmoil.

However, as one case is resolved, another threat emerges. Sir, ever the danger lurking in the background, reappears, and it’s clear that his pursuit of Gabi is far from over. In a tense moment, Gabi realizes Sir is on his way to M&A, leading her to make a fateful decision. She turns herself in to the authourities, knowing that she’s done all she can to protect those around her. This moment of surrender is a powerful culmination of Gabi’s journey, as she takes responsibility for her actions while remaining resolute in her mission to help others.

The episode ends with Sir’s arrest, which feels like both a victory and a temporary reprieve. Gabi’s decision to turn herself in is poignant, marking a moment of vulnerability for a character who’s often portrayed as a fierce protector. The episode concludes with a dramatic shift, as Margaret sees Jamie at the bus station. This cliffhanger sets the stage for more thrilling developments.

With Gabi arrested... What now?

Missing While Misunderstood excels not only in its complex, multi-layered plot but also in its ability to explore deep emotional arcs. The characters of Gabi, Margaret, and the team are pushed to their limits, and the episode masterfully balances their personal struggles with the high-stakes drama unfolding around them. The case of TJ is heart-wrenching and poignant, but it also offers hope, as the family is reunited, and the truth about the group home is exposed.

The performances in this episode are incredible, and the emotional weight of it all really stays with you. And of course, the cliffhanger sets up even more tension for what’s next, leaving me eagerly waiting for the next episode. Found just keeps delivering, and this episode is a prime example of why I’m so hooked!
