In this episode of Powerbook II: Ghost, Brayden’s girlfriend, Elle, overdoses and barely made it to the hospital. Thankfully she survives, but was furious to learn that Brayden killed the dealer who sold her the drugs that almost killed her. Brayden thought he was doing the right thing, but Tariq told him it wouldn’t change anything, and he was right, because Elle was so upset that she told Brayden to leave the hospital. Revenge wasn’t sweet this time around.
Tariq meets with Monet to try and figure out how to handle Detective Carter. Tariq suggests they give him what he wants, which is Noma’s head on a platter. They attempt to get on Noma’s good side so she can help them take out Carter but their plan backfires. Noma rejects their offer, and on top of that, she reveals that she’s accepted Cane’s marriage proposal but calling Monet her future “mum.” To say Monet was livid, is an understatement, and the rest of the family and beyond are just as shocked by this unexpected revelation.
Davis hands Tariq and Monet important intel about Noma-she needs a government partnership to secure her aircraft business, which should be enough to fulfill Carter’s required “leverage” over Noma. Much to their dismay, Carter dismisses this as only the beginning, stressing the fact that they still have more work to do. Meanwhile, Diana is still shaken from the aftermath of her assault, and the loss of her baby. While her and Tariq are getting ready to make love in his dorm room, Diana tells Tariq they don’t need protection, and when he disagreed, she left.
Carter stages Felicia’s death to portray a fatal car crash and hosted a toast at the police station in her honor, going as far as setting up a fund for her son. A member of Carter’s task force and righthand man, Nico, grows somewhat suspicious, sensing something isn’t quite right with how Carter’s handling recent deaths. He’s not buying the accident narrative, and starts to question some of Carter’s motives.
Carter introduces Drew to a few more members of his “organization”, telling them to report directly to Drew from now on. Nico meets with Noma and Cane demanding more money, namely six figures to make him even think about turning on Carter. For a quick second, it seemed like he might’ve betrayed Carter, but Nico went right to Carter and informed him of the meeting, reminding him of his loyalty. Carter tells Nico to accept Noma’s offer and meet with her again alone.
This episode ends with Noma offering Carter a partnership and bypassing their common enemies, Tariq and Monet. With only two episodes left, the stakes are much higher. Will Noma and Carter destroy the Tejada family, Tariq, and anyone else who stands in their way? Or will Monet and Tariq’s original plan to eliminate Carter be a success before it’s too late? With only two episodes left, my excitement is at an all-time high to see how this intense and thrilling drama unfolds.
