My Adventures with Superman -Pierce the Heavens, Superman! - Review: Best Adventure Yet

This week’s episode of My Adventures with Superman was a masterclass in great DC Comics animation storytelling. When they get it right, they get it right. Perhaps the season was a bit slow in the middle but the action has definitely kicked into high gear with Pierce the Heavens, Superman!

The show continues the story with the Black Mercy and “The Man Who Has Everything” comic book story. Lois initially loses her memory when she enters the simulation run by Brainiac. Side note: Clark’s mom looks like Kuvira from Legend of Korra to me. Clark thinks he is on his home planet working as a scientist while his parents are warriors and Lois is taken hostage. It isn’t until she touches Clark that she remembers everything - truly cementing the famous Lois and Clark bond/relationship.

Brainiac cannot get rid of Lois without harm to the simulation so they are caught in a time loop and she finally gets Clark to remember who she is and they get back together in a sweet scene but a bit too cheesy when they give their speech and punch their way out. However, something about Lois and Clark will always have me locked in. I love their relationship so much.

Meanwhile, Jimmy, Kara and Lois’ body is taken by the annoyingly misguided Amanda Waller and her team of misfit villains. Leave it to Jimmy or those around him to provide the comic relief during such serious moments. While he is apologizing to a passed out Kara, his reporter team creates a distraction to save him. I actually thought General Lane would show up to save the day. Seems they kind of dropped that storyline. Steve sets Jimmy free with a line that made me laugh out loud “We saw you get arrested and said nah.” Genius.

The battle between Brainiac and Superman and Supergirl was pure superhero action. The episode ended with a cliffhanger and left me on the edge of my seat. This episode is one of the best in the season. What did you think of the episode Superman fans? Leave a comment and remember to connect with me on X @jereereviews for more.
