Press Release

Starz is bringing back the Spartacus universe with the new series House of Ashur. This show imagines an alternate timeline where Ashur (Nick Tarabay) survives the events of Spartacus: Vengeance and is rewarded with Batiatus’s Ludus for aiding in the defeat of Spartacus and the end of the slave rebellion.

Lucy Lawless returns in a guest-starring role as Lucretia, who will be crucial in establishing this new "what if" scenario. Her performance is expected to elevate the series, echoing her impactful roles in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Lawless is celebrated for her portrayal of Lucretia and is widely recognized for her iconic role in Xena: Warrior Princess.

The cast of House of Ashur includes:

Nick Tarabay as Ashur
Graham McTavish
Tenika Davis
Jamaica Vaughan
Ivana Baquero
Jordi Webber
Claudia Black
India Shaw-Smith
Leigh Gill

Steven S. DeKnight, the original creator, writer, and executive producer of the Spartacus series, returns as showrunner and executive producer. Starz describes the new series as a "history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience."

Lucy Lawless's recent endeavors include making her directorial debut with the documentary Never Look Away, which premiered at Sundance 2024 and was an official selection at SXSW 2024. She currently stars in the Australian series My Life is Murder, now in its fourth season. Lawless also starred in Ash vs Evil Dead alongside Bruce Campbell, produced by Sam Raimi. Her film credits include the animated feature Minions: The Rise of Gru. Her other TV work spans Flight of the Conchords, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Code, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The L Word, CSI: Miami, and The X-Files.
