Press Release

Bob Newhart, the beloved stand-up performer known for his droll, deadpan humor and acclaimed CBS sitcoms, passed away Thursday morning at the age of 94. The Chicago-born comedian, who won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best New Artist for his 1960 breakthrough record The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart, died at his Los Angeles home following a series of short illnesses, as announced by his longtime publicist, Jerry Digney.

Despite his successful career, Newhart went without an Emmy Award until 2013 when he was recognized for his guest role as Arthur Jeffries, alias Professor Proton, on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. He is survived by his children, Robert Jr., Timothy, Courtney, and Jennifer, as well as 10 grandchildren.
