House of the Dragon Season 2 Preview: Expect Blood, Betrayals and Jaw Dropping Moments

House of the Dragon will premiere on June 16th on streaming app Max and I was able to preview the first four episodes of the new season. To say I was left in shock and awe is an understatement. While the first season was good it did not have the exact same feel as its predecessor Game of Thrones. Whether you view that as a good thing or not, as a fan of this universe the first four episodes do not disappoint.

House Green versus House Black brings Westeros on the verge of a bloody war of kin and dragons. Each council fighting for their leader guiding them as each side believes that they are in the right. While each fight on their side of Westeros they both share similarities in the scenes trying to get their respective ruler to follow. Tom Glynn- Carney gives off a small hint of Joffery vibes this season as he sometimes acts like a child throwing a tantrum than a King but is much more likable.

Be prepared to face the unexpected. I’m not sure even Game of Thrones goes as far as some of the events in this second season. The writing is strong along with some beautiful cinematography. The introduction of some new characters brings some freshness to the show while returning characters continue to entertain.

Family is the theme of the first four episodes. The lengths that one would go to avenge family plays heavy in this first half of the season. The story is led by two powerful women, both Queens and both wanting to protect their families. Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke give strong performances.

The back and forth between who are rooting for is a struggle. The writing does not make it easy for the viewer as both sides have a right to their anger. Much more so this season as unexpected events will cause heartbreak. One thing is for certain - there will be dragons.
