Shogun Renewed for a 2nd and 3rd Season at FX

Press Release
Shōgun is no longer a limited series: FX is planning more installments of the historical drama.

The renewal was anticipated, hinted at by star-producer Hiroyuki Sanada finalizing a deal to return as Lord Yoshii Toranaga. Also returning are co-creators, executive producers, and writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, along with executive producer Michaela Clavell.

Currently, FX and streaming partner Hulu are collaborating with the estate of Shōgun author James Clavell to develop two additional seasons.

Although there's no official green light or production start date, a writers' room is being assembled and will begin this summer. It's also unclear if the new seasons will remain within the Shōgun universe or draw from other books in Clavell's Asian Saga.
