X-Men ‘97 has rejuvenated Marvel and perhaps later down the road, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Variety, X-Men ‘98 is the third most watched series in 2024 on Disney+. Fans have been buzzing about this show online since the first episode dropped back in March. We are now days away from the season finale with so many unanswered questions.

Tolerance is Extinction Part 3 is sure to leave fans shook, distressed, impressed and wanting more. Bastion is on the cusp of succeeding in his master plan. Should he be able to wipe out all the X-Men or most, then no one will be standing in his way of making humans the superior species using his army of Prime Sentinels.

I say no one will be standing in his way but that is not entirely true as we have had a few cameos from other notable Marvel superheroes (not being impersonated by Morph) like Spider-Man and Captain America; but this is an X-Men show so chances are low that the Avengers make an appearance to save the day.
Part 2 of the 3 part finale ended with Magneto ripping the metal from Wolverine’s bones; a story taken straight out of the comic, looking identical to the famous comic panel. Surely with Wolverine needing time to heal from the attack (if he is alive), Jean seemingly dead from her psychic battle with Cable, Storm underwater, Forge in a plane crash, Bastion taking out Beast and Morph and Magneto possibly dead after Wolverine stabbed him, our heroes are going to have their work cut out for them.
The obvious question on everyone’s lips is “what will happen next” and former writer Beau DeMayo may have given us the answer. He let his X followers know to complete their homework before watching the episode. According to Beau, fans should watch or rewatch X-Men Animated Series episode “The Final Decision”. In that episode President Kelly has decided to try and force control over mutants but Master Mold has plans of his own - replace the minds of world leaders with computers.
If our current X-Men ‘97 show follows anything from that episode, we can also expect President Kelly to change his mind again and Magneto to heal. Perhaps Bastion’s arc will also wrap up and next season (the show has been renewed for a second season) we will move on to a different big bad.
One thing is certain, you do not want to miss this season finale. The internet will be all a buzz so be sure to watch as soon as you can. X-Men’97 drops on Disney+ at 3am EST and 12am PST.
