Press Release
The future is bright for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as ABC has renewed the venerable "Grey’s Anatomy" for its 21st season, as confirmed by TVLine.
"Grey's Anatomy," created by the acclaimed Shonda Rhimes, quickly became a hit following its debut in 2005. Over the years, the series has seen numerous changes in its cast and crew. Season 19 marked a significant shift with Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, stepping down as a regular. This left Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) as the only original cast members still on the show. Additionally, Season 19 saw the transition of showrunner duties from Krista Vernoff to executive producer Meg Marinis starting from Season 20.
"Grey’s Anatomy" holds the record as the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history, a title it claimed in 2019. It is also the longest-running primetime series on ABC.
