We had yet another extremely close race this month. All three of the Top 3 were separated by just a single point. Worthy of note is that all of the Top 3 performers are all from brand new shows that just came out. It is a testament to each performer that with such new characters on new shows they have already made a big enough impact to garner this recognition. Kirby Howell-Baptiste edged out her competition by delivering a profoundly powerful performance as Death on The Sandman. She delivered a layered performance that immediately captured the hearts and minds of the audience. The work she did in portraying this character played a huge part in how successful this show was right out of the gate. Because of this memorable performance, she went up against incredible fellow nominees and secured this well-deserved win. Kirby Howell-Baptiste is SpoilerTV's August Staff Choice Performer of the Month.

This round wasn't even remotely close with Taylor Hickson turning in what might be the largest winning margin in an extremely long time, if not ever. Her win concluded a three-year run where both she and Amalia Holm each won this title each season Motherland: Fort Salem was on. A testament to the power of their real-life friendship and the brilliance of their acting partnership.

The nominated episode that Hickson won for was a particularly powerful one for Raelle as the heroine not only had to rescue the love of her life but also had the stressful task of asking Scylla to marry her while on the cusp of surrendering to their enemy. But the gravity of Hickson's performance wasn't confined to just those two moments. From the very start of the episode to the very end she made the most of every single moment. It was an episode full of powerful performances. Certainly, the reunion with all of its deep intense emotions that she beautifully captured and the deep-rooted profound emotions that encompassed the proposal are the most memorable, but she gave this whole episode everything she had to give and then some. She even added in a little of her own touch by improvising part of the proposal and giving it an extra added element of honest raw emotion. She has delivered many memorable performances throughout the run of this series, but this episode was perhaps one of the most significant in large part to just how perfectly she executed each moment no matter how big or small it was. This was certainly an impressive episode for her and more than worthy of securing this win.  Taylor Hickson is SpoilerTV’s August Readers’ Choice Performer of the Month.

Please join us in the comments and on social media in celebrating winners Kirby Howell-Baptist and Taylor Hickson as well as the incredible runner-ups. Both winners have secured a place in the 2022 Performer of the Year competition that will take place in January 2023. While the winners are no longer eligible for nomination, all of the runner-ups are still eligible to be nominated in 2022.
