STAFF RESULTS

This month there really was no competition on the Staff side for the top spot. Jean Smart stormed out to the lead from the very start and nobody ever even came close to stealing top honors from her. Second and third place was a little more heated with Hannah Einbinder and Antony Starr battling it out. Their placements flip-flopped several times before Hannah pulled ahead by a single point that secured her the second-place finish. The competition this month was heated with a large pool of exceptionally gifted performers. June was not short on extraordinary performances. So for Jean Smart to secure the top spot with such ease is a testament to how exceptional her performance was. She is regularly nominated so it was great to see her win for her portrayal of such a brilliant character. Her performance in the season final was dynamic and certainly worthy of such high recognition. Jean Smart is SpoilerTV's June Staff Choice Performer of the Month.

READER RESULTS

This round of Reader voting seemed at the start to have some obvious top contenders and of them, only one of them managed to secure a spot in the Top 3. It’s not impossible to beat a performer that has won before, but it’s also not generally an easy task. Not the case for winner Sarah Catherine Hook who started the voting round storming into the lead with nobody ever coming close to taking the top spot from her. At the start of voting, the Motherland: Fort Salem performers were the odds on favorites for one of them to win. For a fair portion of the voting round, Amalia Holm did hold the second spot until Imani Lewis passed her on the last day of voting to join her fellow First Kill co-star at the top. Once Lewis secured the second spot she built enough of a lead that she was able to hold off an 11th-hour surge from Amalia Holm. Both actresses will be eligible in the July round, so if they both make it to the voting round again it could be an intense battle at the top again next month.

As for Sarah Catherine Hook, not many who witnessed her complex portrayal of Juliette Fairmont throughout Season 1, and particularly in the season finale, could argue that she deserves this win. For an actress that wasn’t all that well known prior to this role, she has stormed onto the scene and made herself known in a way that she won’t soon be forgotten. Her performance as Juliette allowed the audience to intimately get to know the inner workings of the character. From a giddy shy girl, to a protector, to a girl in love, to a heartbroken teenager, all of it was captured to perfection and put on full display through Hook’s great control of emotional expression. Hook along with co-star Imani Lewis delivered a season finale performance that made it clear why they took the top two spots. Hook is just at the start of what promises to be an exceptionally long and prosperous career if she keeps delivering performances like she did in the season finale she won for. It was a performance truly worthy of top recognition in this feature. Sarah Catherine Hook is SpoilerTV’s June Readers’ Choice Performer of the Month.
