The First Team is a brand new BBC comedy from The Inbetweeners creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley.
We follow three young footballers Mattie, Jack and Benji and their adventures with terrifying team hard-man Petey, mercurial Italian manager Cesare and eccentric chairman Mark Crane.

The new original 6x30’ series The First Team, is produced by Fudge Park and written by the award-winning duo Iain Morris and Damon Beesley. This series is their first as co-writers since their massive success with The Inbetweeners series and films.

Starring Shaquille Ali-Yebuah (The Feed, The Children Act) as Benji Achebe, Jack McMullen (The Souvenir, Ford v Ferrari/Le Mans '66) as Jack Turner, Jake Short (SuperCool, This Is the Year) as Mattie Sullivan, Theo Barklem Biggs (Sliced, White Gold) as Petey Brooks, Chris Geere (You’re The Worst, Modern Family) as Chris Booth, and six-time Emmy nominee Will Arnett (Arrested Development, BoJack Horseman) as Chairman Mark Crane, are set to star in BBC Two’s The First Team.

The cast also features Tamla Kari (The Inbetweeners, The Musketeers) as Olivia Talbot, Vadhir Derbez (How To Be A Latin Lover) as Carlos Velez, Phil Wang (8 Out of 10 Cats, Task Master) as Brian, and Neil Fitzmaurice (Peep Show, Mount Pleasant) as Darren.

Emmy award-winning producer Tom Werner (Roseanne, That ‘70s Show) and Caroline Leddy (Inbetweeners, Derry Girls) have executive produced and Sam Pinnell (Flowers, Derry Girls, Motherland) has produced the series, which was commissioned by Shane Allen, Controller of BBC Comedy, and Patrick Holland, Controller of BBC Two. Gregor Sharp is the BBC Commissioning Editor.

BBC Studios is a partner in financing the development of the series, and is handling global distribution rights. The First Team will kick off on BBC Two at the end of May, with all episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
