Markella Kavenagh (Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Cry, Romper Stomper) is in talks to join the cast of Amazon's Lord of the Rings series adaptation per Variety's exclusive.
Kavenagh will be playing a character named Tyra who will be a series regular per Deadline. Further details about her character are not being revealed.
Amazon's Lord of the Rings series will take us back to Middle Earth during the Second Age where it'll explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring.
The series will be written by JD Payne and Patrick McKay who lead a writers room that is believed to include Gennifer Hutchison (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) and Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones) amongst others per Deadline. Juan Antonio (J.A.) Bayona will direct the first two episodes of the fantasy adaptation.
