CBS ALL ACCESS’ “STRANGE ANGEL” TO DEBUT SECOND SEASON IN CANADA BEGINNING THURSDAY, JUNE 13
CBS All Access Service Continues to Expand to New Device Platforms and Is Now Available on Apple TV Channels in Canada
June 3, 2019 – CBS All Access, CBS’ direct-to-consumer digital subscription video on-demand service, today announced that its original series STRANGE ANGEL will premiere its second season on Thursday, June 13 in Canada. New episodes of STRANGE ANGEL’s seven-episode second season will be available on demand weekly on Thursdays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in Canada, mirroring the series’ roll-out on the service in the U.S.
STRANGE ANGEL, a drama series created by Mark Heyman (“Black Swan,” “The Skeleton Twins”) and based on George Pendle’s book of the same name, is inspired by the real-life story of Jack Parsons and explores the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction. At the conclusion of STRANGE ANGEL’s first season, Jack (Jack Reynor) and his team from Caltech made a scientific breakthrough that secured the military’s interest as the country neared the brink of war. In season two, the U.S. is fully engaged in World War II, transforming Jack’s rocketry work into a lucrative business and further entrenching him in the military-industrial complex. While Jack’s career takes off, he and his wife Susan’s devotion to their new occult religion grows, leading them to invite the sex cult into their Pasadena mansion and Jack to forge a personal relationship with the group’s notorious founder, Aleister Crowley himself.
The cast of STRANGE ANGEL includes Jack Reynor, Rupert Friend, Bella Heathcote and Peter Mark Kendall. Angus Macfadyen joins the cast in season two as Aleister Crowley.
In addition to STRANGE ANGEL, other CBS All Access original series available in Canada include TELL ME A STORY, comedy series NO ACTIVITY, as well as seasons one and two of THE GOOD FIGHT, with more to be announced.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga - Ebony Obsidian to Recur
If Beale Street Could Talk actress Ebony Obsidian has landed a key recurring role on Hulu’s forthcoming scripted series Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
Inspired by “The Wu-Tang Manual” and “Tao of Wu”, and based on the true story of the Wu-Tang Clan, the series is set in early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation. The group was a vision of Bobby Diggs, aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.
Obsidian will play Nia, Divine’s girlfriend who turned a blind eye to his drug dealing. But his recent encounters may be the thing that pushes her and their relationship past the breaking point.
The news comes after it was recently announced that Obsidian would be joining Amazon Prime Video’s The Hunt, the vengeance-driven Nazi-hunting series executive produced by Academy Award winner Jordan Peele. She also appeared in the hit web series Tough Love.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga is created, written, and executive produced by Alex Tse (the upcoming Superfly remake) and The RZA. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo will also executive produce via Imagine Television, with Wu-Tang member Method Man also executive producing. Fellow Wu-Tang members Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, GZA, as well as the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, will serve as consulting producers on the project. Creative executive James Seidman will oversee the project for Imagine.

Sleeping Beauties - Drama Based on Owen King & Stephen King Novel Receives Pilot Script Commitment at AMC
EXCLUSIVE: AMC has made a pilot script commitment on the Owen King & Stephen King’s bestselling novel Sleeping Beauties. The goal is to create an open ended TV series and Owen King has been set to write the pilot script.
The book has the obligatory scares one would expect from the past work of the father-son author duo, but tells a timely metaphorical story about women and the gender role by imagining what would happen if men were left alone. It takes place in the near future in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women’s prison. Something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent. And while they sleep they go to another place. Meanwhile, the men are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain?
