Filming in Set to Begin in 2020; Wynonna Earp Returning to SDCC
Emily Andras, Melanie Scrofano, Katherine Barrell, Greg Lawson and Beau Smith will be headlining the Wynonna Earp SDCC Panel per Vulture.
Preproduction will begin around November this year with filming set to begin in January 2020. The show will return for its 12-episode fourth season on Syfy next summer.
Wynonna Earp is out of TV purgatory. After a months-long delay brought the Syfy horror-Western to a screeching halt, multiple sources tell Vulture that preproduction on the fourth season will start this fall, and filming will begin in January 2020.
The Earpers' commitment to the show also inspired Andras to revise her plans for the fourth season.

Update: Per Deadline, Syfy has reached out to IDW to offer assistance. The situation is noted as being dire.
Deadline notes that IDW is "running a deficit and cannot proceed with production on the fourth season at this time". It is also of note that apparently not only a 4th season was ordered but a 5th one too.
I hear the network had quietly renewed the show not just for one but two more seasons — 4 and 5 — and IDW is contractually obligated to deliver them.
The situation appears pretty dire right now to a point that the network has reportedly asked the producers whether, if they cannot deliver more episodes, they could at least make a wrap-up movie or any sort of final chapter to give fans closure.

Production on Season 4 of Wynonna Earp has been delayed per The Hollywood Reporter.
The IDW/Syfy co-production has delayed production on the upcoming fourth season due to "financial challenges mounting the series from producers IDW Entertainment." Despite this Syfy remains committed to the series.
IDW co-produces the series with Syfy. Per THR, Syfy licenses Earp from IDW Entertainment and therefore pays for production costs and owns the rights to the series. Right now, IDW has pushed production, a new start date has not been decided. IDW is contractually obligated to deliver the new season per THR.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that production on season four has been delayed due to financial challenges mounting the series from producers IDW Entertainment.
"Syfy ordered season four of Wynonna Earp from IDW and is completely committed to the series. This has not changed," Syfy said in a statement to THR.
