MOVIES: Ghostbusters - Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon in Talks to Star in New Installment

Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon are in talks to star in Sony’s latest installment in the “Ghostbusters” franchise, sources tell Variety.

Jason Reitman is directing the pic and has also co-written a screenplay with Gil Kenan. He plans to shoot the film this summer, with Sony planning to release the latest sequel in summer 2020.

The studio would not comment on plot details, but sources say the story will focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son. It’s currently unknown how that will connect to the new Ghostbusters team.

When They See Us - Teaser

Ava DuVernay's "When They See Us" to Be Released on Netflix on May 31

In 1989, the Media Dubbed Them the Central Park Five and They Were Forever Linked Together By That Moniker

On May 31, their true story will come to Netflix as a four-part limited series from Academy Award(R) Nominee and two-time Emmy Award(R) Winner Ava DuVernay. Now titled When They See Us, the series is based on the stories of the five men who were wrongly accused of a crime they did not commit.

Quote from Ava DuVernay: "In 1989, five black and brown teen boys were wrongly accused of a crime they did not commit and branded The Central Park Five, a moniker that has followed them since that time. In 2019, our series gives the five men a platform to finally raise their voices and tell their full stories. In doing so, Korey, Antron, Raymond, Kevin and Yusef also tell the story of many young people of color unjustly ensnared in the criminal justice system. We wanted to reflect this perspective in our title, embracing the humanity of the men and not their politicized moniker."

Based on a true story that gripped the country, When They See Us will chronicle the notorious case of five teenagers of color, labeled the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they did not commit. The four part limited series will focus on the five teenagers from Harlem -- Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise. Beginning in the spring of 1989, when the teenagers were first questioned about the incident, the series will span 25 years, highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement reached with the city of New York in 2014.

When They See Us was created by Ava DuVernay, who also co-wrote and directed the four parts. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey from Harpo Films, and Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh and Robert De Niro from Tribeca Productions will executive produce the limited series alongside DuVernay through her banner, Forward Movement. In addition to DuVernay, Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, and Michael Starrbury also serve as writers on the limited series.

The series stars Emmy Award(R) Nominee Michael K. Williams, Academy Award(R) Nominee Vera Farmiga, Emmy Award(R) Winner John Leguizamo, Academy Award(R) Nominee and Emmy Award(R) Winner Felicity Huffman, Emmy Award(R) Nominee Niecy Nash, Emmy Award(R) Winner and two-time Golden Globe Nominee Blair Underwood, Emmy Award(R) and Grammy Award(R) Winner and Tony Award(R) Nominee Christopher Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Omar J. Dorsey, Adepero Oduye, Famke Janssen, Aurora Perrineau, William Sadler, Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Storm Reid, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares, Justin Cunningham, Ethan Herisse, Caleel Harris, Marquis Rodriguez, and Asante Blackk.

Hightown - Amaury Nolasco & Dohn Norwood to Co-Star in Starz Opioid Drama

Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break, Deception) plays Frankie Alvarez. Equal parts charming, clever, and terrifying, Frankie runs an opioid ring in Cape Cod – even from behind bars. As Ray’s “white whale,” he always seems one step ahead, from knowing where to deploy his muscle most effectively, to coercing his baby mama, Renee, to spy for him on the outside. Determined to stay on top of the game, Frankie’s more than willing to take care of anyone who gets in his way – and Jackie and Ray are certainly getting in his way.

Dohn Norwood (The Sinner) plays Alan Saintille. A state policeman on the Cape Cod Drug Taskforce, Alan’s worked with Ray a long time – but that doesn’t necessarily make them friends. As the only black Trooper on the CCDT, Alan doesn’t have the privilege of skirting the rules the way Ray does, and it’s hard not to resent him for it, just a little bit. Always second fiddle to Ray, Alan’s ready to step into his own – as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
