Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) has been cast to star Netflix's Locke & Key adaptation from Joe Hill, Carlton Cuse and IDW Entertainment per Deadline. Stanchfield will take on the role of Nina Locke, the mother of Kinsey, Tyler, and Bode.
The 10-episode horror/fantasy series revolves around the Locke siblings Kinsey, Tyler, and Bode (Emilia Jones, Connor Jessup & Jackson Robert Scott) who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.
Locke & Key was created by Hill and developed by Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel, Colony, Lost), Aron Eli Coleite (Star Trek: Discovery, Hostages, Heroes) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House). Hill and Coleite will pen the premiere episode. Cuse and Averill will serve as showrunners on the Netflix series.
Stanchfield will play Nina Locke. After a traumatic home attack, Nina Locke moves her family across the country to Keyhouse for a fresh start — and also to solve the mystery surrounding her late husband Rendell's murder. She struggles with her new role as a single mom, as Rendell was always more the traditional parent type. She's much more comfortable as an artist and house renovator.
Stanchfield join previously announced cast members Griffin Gluck, Steven Williams, Sherri Saum, Emilia Jones, Connor Jessup & Jackson Robert Scott.
