Jane the Virgin Anthology Spinoff from Jennie Snyder Urman & Gina Rodriguez in Development at The CW

The CW is developing a Jane the Virgin spinoff per Deadline. The untitled project is not revealing any details but is envisioned as a soapy, telenovela-inspired anthology inspired by Jane Villanueva's novels from Jane the Virgin. It is expected each season will be narrated by the author of the novels Jane Villanueva aka Gina Rodriguez much like the narrative component of Jane.

The series hails from Jennie Snyder Urman, Gina Rodriguez, Ben Silverman, Brad Silberling, and CBS TV Studios. Valentina Garza (Jane the Virgin) will pen the script with Brad Silberling attached to direct.

The first installment, referred to as Tar & Roses, takes place at the intersection of Napa Valley wine country and the San Francisco art scene.

This is not a character spinoff though there had been a lot of talk over the years about a potential Rogelio spinoff starring Jaime Camil .
