Press Release

EVAN HAS A GIRLFRIEND, AND JESSICA IS CONCERNED THAT SHE WILL DISTRACT HIM FROM HIS SCHOOLWORK AND CAUSE HIS GPA TO SPIRAL, ON ABC’S ‘FRESH OFF THE BOAT,’ FRIDAY, JAN. 11

Fred Grandy (‘The Love Boat’) Guest Stars as a Former Co-Owner of a Mom and Pop Rib Shack

“You’ve Got a Girlfriend” – Evan has a girlfriend! And Jessica deeply disapproves because she thinks it will distract him from his schoolwork and cause his grades to decline. Meanwhile, Eddie, Emery and Honey are shocked when they all go out to see the film “You’ve Got Mail,” and Louis hates it. But Louis’ reason for disliking the film has to do with a ruthless act he unconsciously committed years ago which resulted in a mom and pop rib shack going out of business, much like what took place in the movie, on “Fresh Off the Boat,” FRIDAY, JAN. 11 (8:00–8:30 p.m. EST), as part of the new TGIF programming block on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.

Inspired by a true story, “Fresh Off the Boat” stars Randall Park as Louis Huang, Constance Wu as Jessica Huang, Hudson Yang as Eddie Huang, Forrest Wheeler as Emery Huang, Ian Chen as Evan Huang, Lucille Soong as Grandma Huang, Chelsey Crisp as Honey and Ray Wise as Marvin.

Guest starring is Julia Garcia as Sicily, Dale Raoul as mom, Fred Grandy as Pop, Tracy Vilar as Ms. Duggan, Alex Quijano as Corporal Bryson, Nikki Star as customer and Jackie Michele Johnson as Megan.

“You’ve Got a Girlfriend” was written by Abbey Caldwell and directed by Alisa Statman.
