Fox has put in development a multi-camera family comedy from Marlon co-creator Chris Moynihan and American Dreams co-creator Jonathan Prince. The multi-camera project is a co-production between Universal Television, where Moynihan has an overall deal, and Fox.
Written by Moynihan, the untitled comedy is loosely based on Prince’s life. The plot centers on a couple in their 40s falling in love and blending their families, all of which is complicated by the constant presence of her eccentric billionaire ex-husband.
Tim Jo (The Neighbors, Pitch) first appeared in the October 30 episode titled “Kamsahamnida” and will recur during the season. No further details were given about the future of his character, but he will appear in future episodes during the third season of the Emmy-winning NBC drama.

ABC has put in development The Sorority Girl Who Saved Your Life, a drama about a sorority girl who joined the CIA, from former Arrow co-showrunner Wendy Mericle, Ellen Pompeo, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly as well as ABC Studios, where Pompeo’s Calamity Jane and Timberman-Beverly Prods. are based.
Written by Mericle, the project is inspired by The Sorority Girl Who Saved Your Life, the upcoming book by Tracy Walder and Jessica Anya Blau.
The Sorority Girl Who Saved Your Life details the incredible true story of Tracy Walder. Walder happened upon a CIA recruiter at a jobs fair and was recruited by the agency while a USC student and Delta Gamma sorority sister. She would spend the next five years as a covert operative for CIA’s Counterterrorism Center, assuming aliases, thwarting terrorist attacks, and hiding in the trunks of cars on her way to debrief terrorists at black sites. During her time at the CIA, Walder travelled to the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia, receiving awards for her service.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is working on a two-hour movie, though it remains unclear if that will be released theatrically or made for television.
It's unclear if the movie would be another prequel — like AMC's Better Call Saul —or a follow-up of some sort. It's also unclear is if any of the original stars, like Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul, are involved in the new project, which sources stress will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise.
“Kelly Ripa will guest star on Riverdale as MRS. MULWRAY: Confident and tough, she is Hiram Lodge’s alleged mistress,” the statement read. “She’s a beautiful, icy, femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized.”

Written/executive produced by Figueiredo, Bait & Tackle revolves around three adult siblings who must step up to run the family business—a small town bait & tackle shop—when the family patriarch retires.
Matt Reeves is attached to executive produce the drama “Ordinary Joe” at NBC, which has received a put pilot commitment. The project is based on a pilot that Reeves first wrote more than a decade ago. Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner are attached to write and executive produce.
The series begins with the titular Joe facing a dramatic crossroads: Will he choose love, loyalty, or his artistic passion? It then jumps forward 10 years and follows three different paths Joe’s life takes based on each choice he could have made a decade earlier.
FOX has given a script commitment to Best Lives, about a brother and sister starting over after each goes through a divorce. Daisy Gardner, a co-executive producer of The Goldbergs, who will pen the script.
In Best Lives, two siblings lean on one another after going through divorces. The brother, coming off a one-year marriage with custody of a cat, is convinced he's going through the exact same thing as his overstretched sister, whose 10-year marriage that produced a child just ended, and doesn't get their challenges aren't on the same level. They eventually pull each other through and discover the elusive best lives they've been seeking might be with each other.
Fox is developing a multi-camera, multi-generational family comedy co-written by and starring comedian Michael Yo inspired by his life. The project hails from CBS TV Studios, co-producing with Fox, and Andy Fickman’s Oops Doughnuts.

CBS has fired Bob Kushell, co-showrunner of its midseason comedy Fam for workplace misconduct. Kushell used "inappropriate language" in a workplace setting, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Love, Dad, an hourlong drama from Highmore’s Alfresco Pictures and Sony TV, has been put in development at ABC.

Fox has handed out a put pilot commitment to Safe Harbor, a drama written by Sheldon Turner and to be directed by McG. The project is produced by Turner and Jennifer Klein’s Vendetta, McG’s Wonderland Sound & Vision and 20th Century Fox TV, where the two companies are under deals.
Safe Harbor is an inside look at the country’s most unique military organization. It follows an investigative branch of the U.S. Coast Guard in Miami Beach as they confront a wide array of crimes and catastrophes on land and sea. Willfully putting themselves in harm’s way, these “Coasties” embody the honor and bravery it can take to save a life.
Fran Drescher has revealed she’s been talking to rap superstar Cardi B about working together on a TV series: either a re-imagining of The Nanny — Drescher’s classic sitcom turned 25 on Saturday — or possibly as a mother/daughter TV combo in some other show.
Talk of a possible Drescher/Cardi B pairing began in September, when the Bronx-born rapper, 26, Instagrammed a photo of herself wearing a leopard-skin dress as an homage to Drescher.
“I’m actually developing a millennial-and-me baby boomer show [to star in] and I thought maybe this is fortuitous, maybe we would be good together,” Drescher said. “She would be good playing my daughter. I’m taking meetings with her representatives and you never know, maybe something will develop out of that. We’re in the talking stages right now and our fans have been supportive on social media. ABC is developing an untitled comedy series created, written, executive produced by and starring Robin Thede (The Rundown with Robin Thede) and executive produced by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect) and Doug Robinson (The Goldbergs). Sony Pictures TV, where Robinson’s DRP Productions is under an overall deal, is the studio.
Written by Thede, the project is inspired in part by her childhood growing up dirt poor in a trailer park. The show will explore how a difficult upbringing shaped Robin Sanders (Thede), a famous and successful financial advisor, and will vacillate between the character’s adulthood and childhood as it examines how your past always pops up in the present.
ABC has given a put pilot commitment to Blank, a medical drama from writer Trey Callaway (Revolution), director Dave Semel, Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and producer Glenn Geller.
Written by Callaway and to be directed by Semel, Blank is a one-hour medical procedural about a successful but egotistical surgeon who suffers a traumatic brain injury that changes his personality and erases his memory, but leaves his surgical skills fully intact. From a**hole to good soul, he shocks and confuses his colleagues and family with a new POV— unburdened by the past and uniquely present in his patients’ lives.
CBS has bought Be Here Now, a multi-camera comedy from comedian-writer Tommy Johnagin (Man with a Plan), Fulwell 73 (Late Late Show with James Corden, Happy Together) and CBS TV Studios where Fulwell 73 has a deal.
Penned by Johnagin, Be Here Now centers on a young widower who decides to move his life and kids from Los Angeles to a small town in Illinois to be closer to his wife’s large family.
New Girl alum Lamorne Morris has been tapped as the lead of Woke, a live-action comedy with animated sequences that quietly had been ordered to pilot at Hulu. The project hails from Sony Pictures TV, Will Gluck’s studio-based Olive Bridge Entertainment and Eric Christian Olsen’s Cloud Nine Prods.
Woke is Inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight. Written by Knight and Marshall Todd (Barbershop), Woke centers on Keef (Morris), a cartoonist living in San Francisco on the cusp of mainstream success when an unexpected incident involving cops changes everything, putting him in a state of “woke.”
Hulu has landed Tender Is The Night, a limited series adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, sources said. The project, from Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment, which had optioned the rights earlier this year, is in early stages in development.
Tender Is The Night, which was published in 1934, was Fitzgerald’s fourth and final completed novel. It tells the story of promising young psychiatrist Dick Diver. He meets 16-year old Nicole Warren, who suffers from schizophrenia, before marrying her and moving to the French Riviera, where they start a glamorous life of partying with friends.

But when it comes to uniting the people in their blended family, they are way out of their comfort zone — and as a result, the teachers often find themselves the pupils.
Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) will play Kyra, Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) young cousin who comes to stay with the family for a while after her mom can’t take care of her. The episode will air in 2019.

This afternoon at the U.S.-China Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles at the Skirball Center, The Meg executive producer Catherine Xujun Ying acknowledged that that a sequel to summer’s shark movie is in the works.
“That is definitely the plan,” said Ying when asked by Variety’s Patrick Frater about building out the franchise during a panel for film and the future plans of The Meg 2 , “It’s still in the very early stages, but we’re working on it. We’re trying to keep it secret at this time.”

Written and executive produced by O’Hare, the Untitled Kevin O’Hare Project is based on police pilot programs in major U.S. cities. The drama follows an unlikely group of LAPD officers and detectives incentivized to live and become active members in the community they patrol, all in hopes of changing perceptions and reducing violence.

EXCLUSIVE: YouTube has given a pilot order to The Edge of Seventeen, a half-hour comedy pilot from STXtv, based on the 2016 critically praised film of the same name. Annabel Oakes (Transparent, Atypical) is writing and directing the pilot, which will be executive produced by the film’s writer-director, Kelly Fremon Craig. Filming is slated to begin in January 2019.
The adaptation is described as a witty coming of age series, which, in the spirit of the film, will subvert standard teen show tropes while following a high-school student and her best friend as they navigate the relationships, feelings, and realities of being a teenage girl.
This will not be a straight remake or sequel to the feature from Robert Simonds’ STX Entertainment. It will tell new stories borrowing the tone of the film and its commitment to capturing the teen age truthfully.

Fox’s Next Door, written/executive produced by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, creators of ABC’s Uncle Buck reboot, is described as a multi-generational comedy about three diverse suburban couples, all at crossroads in their lives, who bond while investigating the murder of the worst person in their neighborhood.
ABC’s Common Areas is written/executive produced by Hilary Winston (Happy Endings) and Mat Harawitz (LA to Vegas). In cities where rents have skyrocketed, people are turning to micro-units in luxury buildings, where they can get a bedroom for the price of an apartment in any other city. These dorm residents are getting a lot more than just a tiny bedroom and athlete’s foot, they’re getting a community (but also probably athlete’s foot).
Raphael Acloque (24: Legacy) will play Jack, a smart, calculating and resourceful journalist with an alternative news website. He’s a vocal critic of the NSA, determined to expose corruption and abuse within the agency and the intelligence community at large.
Yasha Jackson (Black Mirror) plays Bells Bradley, a charming, whip-smart chameleon who isn’t at all as she appears.
Amy Forsyth (Rise) plays Kaylee, 18, hard, tattooed, and smart, she is a foster kid. Kaylee is a direct young woman, considered by her friends, “most likely to succeed”
Jessica Sula (Recovery Road) plays Addison, 19, self-possessed, unflappable, very comfortable in her own skin, she is a sophomore. From London, studying bio-medical engineering.
Barrett Carnahan (Grown-ish) plays Logan, 18, a formerly-overweight newly- attractive frat-type. Logan looks the part of a cocky dude but he’s secretly a virgin with a crush on Maleeka. He’s charming though occasionally culturally insensitive (at best) and has a lot to learn.
Inanna Sarkis will recur as Enaas, 19, Addison’s wealthy friend. Enaas comes from oil money.
Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime) will play Alec, a born innovator, a loner and iconoclast who has spent a lifetime on the move. His father was an eccentric and Alec lived part of his childhood in a converted school bus. He studied to be an infectious disease doctor, but after a stint volunteering with Partners in Health on a Navajo reservation, he embraced a vision of medicine that tries to alter lifestyle via community outreach to prevent, rather than treat, illness. Alec is tender with patients but blunt with everyone else. And yet he is a charmer. His relationships with women tended in the past to lack deep roots. Whenever it was necessary, he moved on.

Hollywood, Calif. - October 29, 2018 -- Writer-producer Chris Van Dusen has signed a brand new, multi-year series overall deal with Netflix.
Under the terms of the agreement, Van Dusen will create new series and other projects for the streaming platform. His first will be Shondaland’s Untitled Bridgerton Project, a one-hour drama ordered straight-to-series, based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels. Van Dusen will adapt, showrun, and executive produce, along with Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers through Shondaland.
