AT&T's WarnerMedia is preparing a new streaming service much like Disney's upcoming streaming service that will feature a portfolio of brands including HBO (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Veep) per The Hollywood Reporter. It's expected Warner Bros. movies and television programs will be a part of this service in addition to programs from the Turner networks but nothing has been confirmed.
The streamer is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2019. Pricing and additional details have not been revealed.
"You're going to see a stronger HBO as this offering comes to market," WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey said, adding, "I believe this platform that we'll put in place will see other strong brands around it that a customer can identify with."
The CEO also said the content spend at Warner Media would be “competitive” to that of Netflix, which currently stands at $2.5 billion and $8 billion, respectively, according to wide reports.
