Doom Patrol - Matt Bomer to Star as Negative Man in DC Universe Series; Kaley Cuoco to Star as Harley Quinn in DC Animated Series

Matt Bomer (White Collar, American Horror Story, The Normal Heart) has been cast to star as Larry Trainor/Negative Man in the upcoming DC Universe series, Doom Patrol. The superhero series is expected to debut sometime in 2019.

Doom Patrol is a reimagining of the beloved superhero DC characters originally written and drawn by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani. It revolves around Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane. Led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder, they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg (Wade). Banding together these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.

Doom Patrol’s Brendan Fraser Makes Special Appearance to Announce Casting of Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man

Prior to the Titans world premiere, Brendan Fraser ( The Mummy, Trust) took to the stage to share some updates directly from the set of Doom Patrol. Fraser is starring in the series as the voice of Robotman, and he will also portray Cliff Steele in flashback scenes.

Matt Bomer (White Collar, American Horror Story, The Normal Heart) has joined the Doom Patrol team. Bomer will provide the voiceover performance for the character of Negative Man, and he will also appear as Larry Trainor in flashback scenes. Bomer further surprised fans with a special video greeting from the Atlanta-based set, exclusively for those in attendance at NYCC.

Matthew Zuk has been cast in the role of Negative Man, and he will provide the physical performance of the character on set in costume. (Riley Shanahan was previously announced as the actor providing the physical performance of Robotman in costume.)

The drama is written by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) who will also executives produces the live-action series alongside Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter.

Diane Guerrero and April Bowlby were previously cast as Crazy Jane and Elasti-Woman in the live-action streaming series along with Joivan Wade as Cyborg, Brendan Fraser & Riley Shanahan as Robotman/Cliff Steele, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody and Timothy Dalton as The Chief.











Additionally, Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) has been announced to star as Harley Quinn in the upcoming animated Harley Quinn series from DC Universe. A release date has not been announced. The comedy hails from Powerless' Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey.



The Hollywood Reporter notes that the adult comedy series follows Harley as she breaks things off with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal "queenpin" of Gotham City. The series will feature Poison Ivy and a cast of heroes and villains — old and new — from the DC universe.

Warner Bros. Animation unveiled a first look at the upcoming animated Harley Quinn series with a special video created specifically for NYCC.

Immediately following the video, the new voice of Gotham’s criminal Queenpin Harley Quinn was revealed, as The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco took the stage. A beloved presence at any Comic-Con for her role in The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco delighted fans with the news of her taking on the role of the madcap Ms. Quinn.

Cuoco leads a strong voice cast which includes comedic talents such as Lake Bell (In a World…, Wet Hot American Summer series, Children's Hospital), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Ron Funches (Powerless), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Natalie Morales (Bojack Horseman), Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep), Chris Meloni (Happy!, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

In addition to voicing the role of Harley Quinn, Cuoco is also an executive producer on the series through her Yes, Norman Productions, serving alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey.
