Deadline has exclusively revealed Sophia Bush (Chicago PD, Incredibles 2, One Tree Hill) is returning to TV with a spy thriller on CBS. Surveillance, a spy thriller from Matt Reeves (The Passage, Batman, War for the Planet of the Apes), David C. White (Sons of Liberty), Patricia Riggen (Jack Ryan, Miracles From Heaven) and 20th Century Fox has been given a production commitment from CBS.
20th Century FOX and CBS TV Studios will co-produce (a deal like this has not happened since Life In Pieces back in 2015 per Deadline). Riggen is attached to direct whilst White will pen the script.
The plan is to film a pilot later this fall per Deadline as 20th Century TV is in the process of hiring a casting director to cast the potential series.
Surveillance is described as a complex and timely spy thriller centered around the head of communications for the NSA (Bush), a charming operative who finds her loyalties torn between protecting the government’s secrets and her own.
