PANK - Professional Auntie No Kids Drama in Development at ABC

ABC has given a script commitment with penalty to PANK, a one-hour drama from writer Felicia D. Henderson (Soul Food), producer Darryl Taja and 20th Century Fox TV.

Written by Henderson, PANK follows thirty-three-year-old Faith Jones who is living and lovin’ her life as a PANK: Professional Auntie No Kids. A new guy, a new promotion, a new house, a fast car, and plenty of disposable income. It’s kinda perfect… Until the unexpected happens and circumstances force her to care for her brother’s three children. How will this childless by choice, bad-ass PANK tackle raising three kids, while also maintaining the life she worked so hard to create.

Widowed Cop Character Driven Drama from Rosewood Creator & Writer Receives Put Pilot at NBC

NBC has landed a drama pilot from Rosewood creator Todd Harthan and Rosewood writer, Evan Bleiweiss.

The put pilot from 20th Century Fox TV is a character-driven police show that centers on a recently widowed NYPD detective and an officer just promoted to the detective division who's dealing with her own personal challenges.

High Fidelity - Zoë Kravitz to Star in Upcoming Disney Streaming Service Series

After lengthy negotiations, Zoë Kravitz (Big Little Lies) has been tapped to star and executive produce High Fidelity, the reimagining of Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel and the 2000 feature starring John Cusack with a female point of view. With Kravitz on board, the project has received a formal 10-episode order.

Kravitz will play the ultimate music fan, a record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists, a female take on the character played in the movie by Cusack.

Written by Gailey and Burdette, Everything’s Under Control centers around a working class Midwestern family who are just barely keeping it together, and then their grandmother gets Alzheimer’s.

Laurie Holden (The Americans) will play Greta Bellows, the wife of Gore Bellows (Grammer), the hard-as-nails and tough-on-crime state’s attorney. She is shrewd and sexy; a Lady Macbeth type. CBS has put in development drama Far Rockaway, from writer David Wilcox (CBS’ Bull), Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout (Star Trek: Discovery) and CBS TV Studios.

Written by Wilcox, Far Rockaway is based on the Spanish format titled “Estoy Vivo”. In Far Rockaway, a workaholic NYPD detective killed in the line of duty is granted a second chance to return to earth in the body of another cop in order to bring his killer to justice and heal the fractured family he left behind.

MOVIES: Child's Play - Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza & Brian Tyree Henry to Star in Remake

The movie follows the same plot as the 1980s original, centering on a single mom (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware that it is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Brian Tyree Henry will play Mike per Deadline.




American Housewife - Season 3 - Kelly Ripa to Voice-Guest

Kelly Ripa will take on the voice-over role of Whitney, a divorcée who is also Katie’s (Katy Mixon) new boss at the event coordination company, Parties By Whitney. Although Whitney and Katie have yet to meet, Whitney still demands nothing but the best from her new employee. Ripa will lend her voice to at least two episodes of the show, beginning with the season premiere.

Strong Justice - Mother-Daughter FBI Drama from Wendy Calhoun & Elizabeth Banks in Development at NBC

NBC has put in development Strong Justice, an hourlong drama from Wendy Calhoun (Empire), Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions and Warner Bros. TV.

Written by Calhoun, Strong Justice is inspired by Marlo McGuire Graham and Ethel McGuire. It centers on FBI’s first-ever mother-daughter duo, Special Agents Etta and Memphis Strong, who strive to be exceptional investigators despite sexist and racist hurdles. Both women tackle dangerous cases and fight for equality over two time periods, but their individual pursuits reveal truths that threaten to ruin their role-model legacy.

Defending Jacob - Chris Evans to Star in Limited Character-Driven Thriller Series Ordered by Apple

Chris Evans will topline and exec produce crime drama Defending Jacob, which has landed a straight-to-series order at Apple. Mark Bomback (the Planet of the Apes trilogy) created the adaptation and will pen the script, exec produce and serve as showrunner.

Based on William Landay's 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, the drama — which is being billed as a limited series — revolves around Andy Barber, an assistant district attorney who investigates the slaying of a 14-year-old boy who discovers his teenage son is a suspect. The character-driven thriller will run for eight episodes.




Switch - FBI Drama from Underground EP's in Development at FOX

Fox has put in development Switch, an hourlong drama from former Underground executive producers Joby Harold and Toby Tunnell, Len Wiseman and Warner Bros. TV.

Written by Harold and to be directed by Wiseman, Switch asks the question, what if you could quite literally drive the body of another human being? Welcome to the world of Switch – an adrenaline-fueled procedural detailing the exploits of the FBI’s newest undercover unit, the Switch Division, a task force created to allow an agent to go undercover inside the body of another human being. Or at least that’s the theory. Unfortunately, type-A Louise “Lou” Fawkes can’t find an agent insane enough to try her new technology. Enter Harry “Mac” Macallister – a sloppy, loose-cannon, former undercover burnout who will enjoy nothing more than the opportunity to spend each week inside the bodies of various criminals – except perhaps watching Lou pull her hair out trying to control him.

Lauren Weedman (Arrested Development), Carla Jimenez (The Mick) and standup comic Quinta Brunson will play Poppy’s friends at the Winebrary — “a rag-tag group of hardened feminists who love drinking almost as much as they love reading”.

Watchmen - Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to Compose Music for HBO Series from Damon Lindelof

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross began working together as film composers on David Fincher’s The Social Network. Fincher had been a fan of Reznor’s work for many years, having used the Nine Inch Nails song “Closer” in the acclaimed thriller Se7en. Fincher was heavily influenced by Reznor’s work with Atticus Rosson Ghosts I-IV. He incorporated several of the album tracks for the film’s temp score before hiring the duo to write an original score. Reznor and Ross earned an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the film’s score.

Again teaming with Fincher, Reznor and Ross wrote an original score for the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The 39-track album won a GRAMMY for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. The duo also scored Fincher’s 2014 adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel Gone Girl.

Resident Alien - Alan Tudyk to Star in Syfy Pilot; Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund & Levi Fiehler Join Cast

Alan Tudyk (Con Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) is set to star in the title role in Resident Alien, a drama pilot based on the Dark Horse comics series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, from Universal Cable Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Amblin TV. In addition, Sara Tomko (Sneaky Pete), The Closer alum Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) and Levi Fiehler (Mars) are set to round out the series regular cast.

Tudyk’s Doctor Harry Vanderspeigle is one of the town’s most reclusive citizens. The alien is up to no good, but his mission is sidetracked when the local doctor is murdered and our alien Harry is forced to take his place.

The Exceptional - Comedy Starring Josh Meyers in Development at NBC

The Meyers brothers have teamed for The Exceptional, a half-hour single-camera comedy series, which has been set at NBC with a script commitment.

Co-written/executive produced by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, The Exceptional is set in Los Angeles. The HOA board members of the Exceptional, a Los Angeles condo building, find themselves hopelessly deadlocked. That is, until a fellow resident, Justin (Josh Meyers), reluctantly agrees to join the board and, in his first meeting, stumbles into becoming its president. Now Justin has to leave his self-obsessed bubble and engage with his neighbors, finding himself knee deep not only in the issues of the building but also the personal problems of the condo’s diverse residents — an endeavor that offers both hilarious challenges and surprising benefits.

MOVIES: Space Jam 2 - Ryan Coogler to Produce Sequel Starring LeBron James

Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) will produce the new Space Jam movie and Terence Nance, who created HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and directed the experimental film The Oversimplification of Her Beauty, will direct. Production on the Warner Bros. film is tentatively slated for 2019, during the NBA off-season. It will be LeBron James' first starring role after a successful turn as a supporting character in the 2015 Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck.

Fox has handed a put pilot commitment to Danny Issues, a multi-camera comedy from former 2 Broke Girls writer-producers Michelle Nader and Morgan Murphy and the studio behind the CBS sitcom, Warner Bros. TV, where Nader is under an overall deal.

Written by Nader and Murphy inspired by their own relationships with their fathers, Danny Issues is about two flawed sisters who are reunited with their ne’er-do-well father after the loss of their mother, leading all three to realize that sometimes what they thought was the problem is actually the solution.

Fox has given a put pilot commitment to Richard Lovely, a single-camera comedy from Grace and Frankie executive producer Billy Finnegan, director Kat Coiro (The Mick) and 20th Century Fox TV.

Written by Finnegan, the project, which has an About a Boy vibe to it, is about Richard Lovely, a best-selling children’s book author… who hates children. After a series of unfortunate public events — and a little advice from his fictional alter ego — he’s forced to foster a little boy named Georgie to save his career. But Georgie might end up saving his life.

MOVIES: Charlie's Angels - Patrick Stewart in Final Negotiations to Join Cast

Patrick Stewart is in final negotiations to join Elizabeth Banks’ reboot of Charlie’s Angels. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and British newcomer Ella Balinska are starring as the Angels in the Sony feature project.

The project seems to have multiple characters named Bosley, who in the past acted as face of the enigmatic and never-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend. Banks is playing Bosley with sources telling The Hollywood Reporter that Stewart is also playing a Bosley.
