Supergirl - Season 4 - Xander Berkeley Cast as Peter Lockwood

Xander Berkeley (The Walking Dead, Nikita) has been cast to play Ben's (Sam Witwer) father, Peter Lockwood.

Peter is said to be "a middle-class factory owner struggling to make ends meet in a world that’s rapidly changing due to the rise of aliens from outer space living amongst us," per the casting news. The release goes on to explain that he's "proud and single-minded, a family man who’s dedicated his life providing for people. The seeds of his discontent sows the beginning of an anti-alien wave."

Hoops - Basketball Drama from LeBron James & Elizabeth Banks in Development at NBC

LeBron James and Elizabeth Banks are teaming up to executive produce a drama series titled “Hoops” currently in development at NBC, Variety has learned.

In the one-hour series, after years on the road as both a star player and coach in the WNBA, Stevie Decker jumps at the chance to return to her alma mater to become the first female head coach of a men’s college basketball team. But coming home isn’t easy as her career took a toll on her family and the school she loves is embroiled in a sex scandal involving her mentor, a legendary former coach. NBC has given the project a script commitment with a penalty attached.

NBC has put in development The Inn Crowd, a multi-camera comedy from Young & Hungry creator David Holden, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak’s That’s Wonderful Productions and Warner Bros. TV where the company is based.

Written by Holden, The Inn Crowd is inspired by Tony Horwitz’s 1999 New Yorker article and centers around a gay couple who divide a small town when they open a very successful inn.

The Crew - Auto Racing Comedy in Development at CBS

Austen Earl is attached as an executive producer on a new multi-camera comedy in development at CBS, Variety has learned exclusively.

Written and co-executive produced by Gracie Glassmeyer, the series is titled “The Crew.” In the show, when the family patriarch dies, his son has to step up and take the wheel as the driver of the father’s racing team.

Chinese-American Family Comedy from Rick & Morty Writer in Development at ABC

ABC has given a script commitment plus penalty to a single-camera comedy from Rick & Morty writer — and newly minted Emmy winner — Jessica Gao, Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios.

Written by Gao, who is of Chinese descent, the untitled series is about Janet Zhao, a first generation Chinese-American woman who struggles to set healthy boundaries with her crazy, exhausting family. When her wealthy grandmother dies and names Janet the sole inheritor, she suddenly finds herself the unwilling new matriarch of the family she’s spent her life trying to keep at arm’s length.

CBS has put in development Just Like Us, a multi-camera family comedy from One Day at a Time writer Debby Wolfe and co-creator/executive producer/co-showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett.

Written by Salvadoran-American Wolfe, Just Like Us centers on a widower who takes in his teenage El Salvadorian niece while still raising his two grown daughters, retired parents and running the restaurant he started with his late wife.

NCIS: New Orleans - Season 5 - Geoffrey Owens to Guest

Geoffrey Owens (The Cosby Show) will guest star in the sixth episode of the season, slated to air in late October. In the episode, Pride (Scott Bakula) is still emotionally reeling following his brush with death in the season finale/season premiere. He consults with his friend Commander Adams (Owens) on what could be causing his current symptoms and what his next course of action should be.

“For Commander Adams, we needed someone with compassion, competence and heart. That’s Geoffrey in a nutshell,”  said “NCIS: New Orleans” executive producer Christopher Silber. “An accomplished actor who seemed like the perfect fit to add to our extended repertory company. We’re lucky to have him on the show,”

His Dark Materials - Renewed for a 2nd Season by BBC

Deadline understands that the Bad Wolf and New Line production has already been handed a second, eight-part season. Filming kicked off earlier this month in Cardiff at Wolf Studios Wales for season one of the drama, which is thought to be one of the most expensive British scripted series to date.

Jess Gabor will play Kelly Keefe, the tough-as-nails daughter of an Army officer and West Point alumnus, who takes over the life of Carl (Ethan Cutkosky).

Luis Guzmán (Code Black) will portray Mikey O’Shea. Frank (Macy) meets his match in O’Shea, a fellow lush and contender in an ad campaign competition to find the new face of Hobo Loco, a cheap liquor aimed at fraternities and alcoholics.

Bob Saget (Fuller House) will play Father D’Amico, a priest Kev (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton) have to answer to when they run into show-and-tell trouble with the nuns at their twins’ local Catholic pre-school.
