Production Begins on Gina Torres-Led Suits Spinoff in Los Angeles

Today, Universal Cable Productions (UCP, the same company behind Suits) announced the start of production on the Suits spinoff for USA Network, starring Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson! The series will shoot in Los Angeles.

Centered on the powerhouse lawyer as she adjusts to the dirty world of Chicago politics, this new drama is executive produced by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh alongside executive producer and showrunner Daniel Arkin. Torres also serve as executive producer.

As for the cast line-up, Morgan Spector (Homeland) will play Mayor Bobby Golec, the handsome, charismatic, and enigmatic working-class mayor of Chicago featured in Suits episode 716, "Good-Bye." Suitors also met another spinoff regular in that same episode: Simon Kassianides (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who stars as Nick D’Amato, a tough cop who serves as the Mayor’s driver but has a mysterious connection to one of Chicago’s biggest developers.

Additional cast members for the Suits spinoff were confirmed today, including: Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) as Keri Allen, a driven, ambitious city attorney serving as unofficial right hand to the mayor; Chantel Riley (Wynonna Earp) as Angela Cook, a certified Nursing Assistant who's suspicious of her cousin Jessica’s sudden altruism; Isabel Arraiza (The Oath) as Yoli Castillo, Jessica’s passionate assistant who will learn from the best how to most effectively channel her intensity; and Eli Goree (Riverdale) as Derrick Mayes, Bobby’s young press secretary and a former journalist, who got into politics to make a difference but struggles with the reality of what it takes to do so.
