Variety has exclusively revealed that Disney's upcoming streaming service is developing a number of limited series centered on popular Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Variety notes the shows will likely feature Loki, Scarlet Witch along with other beloved superheroes who have yet to appear in their own standalone feature films. The series are expected to range from 6 to 8 episodes.

Variety highlights that Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to reprise their roles in the streaming shows. Also of interest, Netflix's Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders along with ABC's Agents of SHIELD will remain under the Marvel TV banner whilst these newly announced limited series will be set under Marvel Studios per Variety.

Marvel Studios will produce the expensive superhero series (which is expected to rival major studio productions) with Kevin Feige expected to have a hands-on role in their development.

Insiders stress the Avengers that have gotten their own movies like Iron Man and Captain America will not be featured in the series with the studios focusing on characters who have served as second tier characters in the MCU.

The upcoming Disney streaming service will debut sometime in 2019 and feature Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series which is expected to cost $100 million for 10 episodes, a 10-episode docu-style High School Musical: The Musical series which will feature both original music and new renditions of classic HSM bops, a series based on Pixar's Monsters Inc, a live-action Lady and the Tramp retelling with Tessa Thompson & Justin Theroux voicing the titular characters, a new Muppets series, remakes of The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, a Mighty Ducks series, a Sword in the Stone remake, a tv series based on High Fidelity, a Star Wars: The Clone Wars revival and more. Disney streaming movies are expected to have a budget ranging from $20 million to $60 million whilst the tv shows will have between $25 million to $35 million.
