Uninsured - Family Comedy from The Goldbergs Writer in Development at NBC
NBC has put in development Uninsured, a single-camera comedy from The Goldbergs writer/co-executive producer Dan Levy, executive producer Doug Robinson and Sony Pictures TV.
Written by Levy, Uninsured centers around young parents Dave and Rebecca, who in addition to raising their two kids, end up taking care of Dave’s parents, Elliot and Linda, who have mishandled their finances and need their help to pay down a sizable debt.

Can-Can - Cerebral Palsy Comedy Starring Maysoon Zayid in Development at ABC
ABC has given a script commitment plus penalty to Can-Can, a single-camera comedy starring comedian Maysoon Zayid. It comes from writer Joanna Quraishi (Kevin Can Wait), Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills (Hot In Cleveland, Grimm) and Universal TV where Hazy Mills is based.
Co-written by Zayid, and Quraishi and inspired by the life of Zayid, Can-Can follows the life of a Muslim woman who has cerebral palsy, as she struggles to find love, the right career, and discover who she is separate of her opinionated Muslim parents.

Ms. Mayor - Drama from Barbara Hall, Nina Tassler & Denise Di Novi in Development at CBS
Barbara Hall’s CBS drama series Madam Secretary features a female Secretary of State. Now the veteran creator has set her sights on a new drama project for CBS about a woman in a position of power, Ms. Mayor.
The project hails from former CBS chairman Nina Tassler and producer Denise Di Novi via their PatMa Productions. Written by Hall, in Ms. Mayor, when a young activist runs for Mayor of NY on a whim, her surprise victory launches her onto a political stage that she’s not prepared for, but is determined to take on with her idealistic enthusiasm.

MD-1 - Medical Drama from Dr. Oz in Development at CBS
CBS is developing a medical drama series with Dr. Mehmet Oz attached as an executive producer, Variety has learned exclusively. Greg Spottiswood will serve as writer and executive producer.
The series is titled “MD-1.” It follows a team of street doctors who take on the biggest catastrophes in New York, saving lives without ever setting foot in an emergency room or hospital. The project is inspired by the “Medical Avengers” program in New Jersey.

High School Musical - Disney's Streaming Service Reveals Details & Character Breakdowns
Set to debut as part of Disney's forthcoming Netflix-like direct-to-consumer streaming service, the 10-episode series will be titled High School Musical: The Musical. Disney says the show will be shot as a docu-style series and follow a group of students at East High who stage a performance of High School Musical for their winter theater production only to realize that as much drama happens off-stage as on stage. Every episode will feature a new rendition of a song from High School Musical as well as an original song.

Kimberly Hebert Gregory (Kevin Probably Saves The World, Vice Principals) will play Kimberly Hendricks, described as a razor-sharp power attorney working on behalf of Ronnie (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine).
Carl Lumbly (Supergirl) has been cast as Walter Dion Burkes, the ranking member and founder of the 63rd St. Mob. Burkes is described as keeping a low profile, but still has influence on the streets.
Curtiss Cook (Luke Cage) will play Douda, described as a successful Southside businessman and hustler, who also has ties to Reg (Barton Fitzpatrick). With Reg’s help, he’ll become an unlikely mentor to Brandon (Jason Mitchell).

Mario will play the role of Devon, described by Fox as "an earnest, up-and-coming R&B singer who supports his ailing sister." Shrill - Julia Sweeney to Co-Star in Hulu Comedy Series
Julia Sweeney (Saturday Night Live) is set to co-star opposite current SNL cast member Aidy Bryant in Shrill, Hulu’s six-episode single-camera comedy series based on Lindy West’s bestselling 2016 memoir, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman. It tells the story of a fat young woman, Annie (Bryant) who wants to change her life, but not her body.
Sweeney will play Annie’s (Bryant) mom.

Swamp Thing - Len Wiseman to Direct & EP DC Universe Series
Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow) is set to executive produce the series and direct the first episode of Swamp Thing, the upcoming DC Universe drama based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The project hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television and is set to premiere in 2019 on the DC Universe digital subscription service.
