12 Monkeys AM Killjoys POTM Salvation Sharp Objects The 100 The Originals The Outpost*RESULTS*
The Readers’ Choice Performer of July took the lead right from the start and no competition ever again came near her. The winner of the title is The 100’s Marie Avgeropoulos who has consistently been a powerhouse in her portrayal of Octavia Blake. Her character has arguably had the biggest arc of any of the characters on the show. Who the character is now is nothing like she was when the series began. While that is a great testament to the writers it is largely in part because of all the heart and charisma Avgeropoulos brings to Octavia. This season was a huge one for Octavia providing Avgeropoulos with some brilliant material to dig into. Damocles Pt. 1 (5x12) is the episode that she won for and it was the start of a critical change in the character. This episode displayed the new Blodreina while also starting to bring back some elements of the old Octavia. Throughout this hour, Octavia was a character in crisis and Avgeropoulos stunningly captured every tough decision and heartbreaking realization making those moments seem vividly real. Her performance throughout the series has always been standout, but there was something truly special about this hour. It was in many ways the beginning of the end for Blodreina and the re-birth of Octavia Blake. Marie Avgeropoulos is SpoilerTV’s July Readers’ Choice Performer of the Month.
The Staff Choice Performer of July winner is Amy Adams, the star of HBO’s gripping adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s debut novel, the dark and psychological, Sharp Objects. In a rare television performance, Adams has been amazing, thrilling fans and critics alike. She won for the third episode, Fix, as Camille Preaker, a troubled reporter returning home to her small hometown to investigate the disappearance and death of several young girls. In this episode, an emotionally fragile Camille learns more about her complex new half-sister, Amma, discovers her contentious relationship with her disapproving, status-conscious mother hasn’t and isn’t likely to change and continues the investigation into the deaths despite a less than warm welcome home. As she navigates the minefield of emotions regarding returning home, she is haunted by her recent past that includes a tragic stay in rehab. Adams has been mesmerizing the entire series and, in this episode, shows us even more sides to this intriguing character she is so vividly bringing to life. Her performance in Sharp Objects and this episode, in particular, earned much-deserved recognition from SpoilerTV staff as their July Performer of the Month choice.
Marie Avgeropoulos and Amy Adams will each receive a winner article that will release prior to the end of the month. In the meantime, use the comments section here to discuss these two brilliant winners and all of their incredibly gifted fellow nominees.
