India de Beaufort (Kevin Probably Saves The World, Jane by Design, Blood & Oil) and Alex Quijano (Fresh Off The Boat, 13 Reasons Why) have joined the upcoming third season of Netflix's One Day at a Time in recurring roles per Deadline.
India de Beaufort will play Avery, a new love interest for Todd Grinnell's (de Beaufort's real-life husband) Schneider. Quijano takes over the role of Mateo, who was originally to be played by Raúl Castillo but has since been cast as a recurring character in Starz's Vida and appears to no longer be attached to recur. Mateo is a dad friend of Penelope's (Justina Machado) from school, who turns into something more.
Additionally, Gloria Calderon Kellett, co-creator of the comedy has been cast in a two-episode arc this season. Melissa Fumero and Stephanie Beatriz will guest star alongside Gloria Estefan. Danny Pino & Nicky Endres also appear in the season.
