Kerry Washington (Scandal) is set to star in her next Hulu project, Old City Blues. The drama, which is in development, is based on the 2011 graphic novel from Boom Studios written by Giannis Milonogiannis. Arash Amel (Erased, Grace of Monaco, The Titan) will pen the script, Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, Rango, A Cure for Wellness, The Lone Ranger) will direct (should the drama be ordered to series) per The Hollywood Reporter. The role in which Washington will portray is unknown.
The Hollywood Reporter also notes a writers room for the project has been opened with Chris Black (Outcast, Star Trek: Enterprise) set as the showrunner. Black will executive produce alongside Amel and Washington.
Kerry Washington will first star in Little Fires Everywhere, a limited series with Reese Witherspoon for Hulu.
Set in the year 2048, in New Athens, on the ruins that once was known as Greece. It is now crawling with high-tech criminals including smugglers, drug dealers and corrupt politicians and powerful corporations. The potential series revolves around Solano, Thermidor and the rest of the New Athens Special Police to keep the city in check after the cyborg founder of a tech company is found dead.
