Amazon is developing a comedy series from Catastrophe co-creator and star Sharon Horgan per Deadline. It's being eyed as a potential starring vehicle for Horgan and has a script-to-series commitment from the streaming network. Billy Magnussen (Tell Me a Story, Into the Woods, Maniac, Aladdin) is attached to co-star alongside Sharon Horgan.
The untitled comedy, co-written by Horgan, John Hamburg (Zoolander, Meet the Fockers, Meet the Parents) and Ian Helfer (Why Him?, The Oranges), centers on a socially awkward, broke, single woman (Horgan) who launches a self-help company and recruits a handsome former male gymnast (Magnussen) to be the face of it.
The project is the result of an overall deal Horgan and Merman signed with Amazon Studios early this year. Amazon Studios will produce the project alongside Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, Horgan and Clelia Mountford's UK-based Merman studio.
