MOVIES: Deadwood - Officially Greenlit by HBO

Perry Mason Reboot - HBO Looking for New Lead Actor

I hear it became clear about six months ago that Robert Downey Jr.’s feature commitments would make it difficult for him to act on the series, which remains in active development at HBO.

“We developed two really good scripts, and we are talking about, is any actor that would be great for the role,” HBO president of programming Casey Bloys told Deadline at TCA. “There is a lot of interest from actors, we are thinking about who that might be.”

Game of Thrones Prequel Will Feature Strong Female Characters

“There are very strong female characters but it’s an ensembles, there is men and women,” Bloys said. “Jane is a very good writer, we don’t want to limit her to writing female leads. There are a lot of very complicated leads in (the pilot).”

“Jane did not go into that wanting to answer anything about Game of Thrones; it was the story that spoke to her,” Bloys said. “It will feel very different because it’s 8,000 years before, it’s a very different setting, a very different time in Westeros, It will feel different but still Game of Thrones.”

Divorce - Update on Season 3 Status

“We have a writers room doing, scripts are being written. If they are in good shape, we will move forward but Sarah Jessica and everybody wanted to feel good about where we are going,” HBO president of programming Casey Bloys told Deadline at TCA. He expects a decision to be made by end of summer.

The Season 3 scripts for Divorce are being penned with a new showrunner at the helm, Liz Tuccillo, who replaced Season 2 showrunner Jenny Bicks. I hear the comedy extended the options on its cast while awaiting renewal decision.
