Here's your first look at Prime Video's upcoming mind-bending psychological thriller, Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts and directed by Sam Esmail (Creator of Mr. Robot). Premieres November 2 on Amazon.
Four years later, Heidi has started a new life, living with her mother (Sissy Spacek) and working as a small-town waitress, when a Department of Defense auditor (Shea Whigham) comes to her with questions about why she left the Homecoming facility. Heidi begins to realize that there’s a whole other story behind the story she’s been telling herself.
The series also stars Sissy Spacek, Hong Chau, Shea Whigham, Jeremy Allen White, Sydney Poitier, Dermot Mulroney, Alex Karpovsky, Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Brooke Bloom, Ayden Mayeri & Jacob Pitts.
Based on the popular podcast of the same name, HOMECOMING is created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg. The cast also includes Jeremy Allen White, Alex Karpovsky, Dermot Mulroney, among others. HOMECOMING will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video fall 2018.
“To me, there’s something about these old-school thrillers,” says Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, who executive produces and directs all of Homecoming’s first 10 episodes. “I’m talking about the Hitchcock thrillers where it was just about people and not about CGI. It wasn’t about spectacle, but about flawed people doing flawed things and going down a road you didn’t think you were gonna go down and being surprised at every turn. That is what we hope this show does.”
Esmail was adamant about keeping the therapy scenes simple, but also maintaining the half-hour running time of each episode. Explains Esmail, “I didn’t want to compromise those scenes and add ‘pyrotechnics’ to expand into a one-hour show.” Yet there will be some major twists in store for fans of the source material, including some new characters and a new ending for season 1.
