Netflix has ordered a new 10-episode series from playwright Andrew Hinderaker, Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Rise, Parenthood) and Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Felicity). The series has been in the works for more than 6 months at Netflix per Deadline.
The series, loosely inspired Chris Jones’ Esquire article of the same name is co-written by Andrew Hinderaker and Jason Katims. Away is described as an epic love story and a thrilling tale of survival set against humanity’s greatest endeavor – the first human mission to Mars. Negotiations are underway to bring in a showrunner.
