Nearing Series Order at Netflix

Yes, for real. Locke & Key is nearing a deal to be ordered to series by Netflix. You could say the third times the charm. The Hollywood Reporter notes the project will be re-cast and redeveloped as Netflix is licensing the rights to the IP per Deadline. The deals aren't finalized.

Sources say Netflix is in talks to license the rights for the IP and redevelop the drama with IDW Entertainment. The Netflix series is not the Hulu pilot. Instead, Cuse and Joe Hill will redevelop the series for the streaming giant with an entirely new cast and new director. Andy Muschietti, who helmed the Hulu pilot, is busy with It 2 and is no longer available to direct. He will still be credited as an EP on the Netflix series.

Sources said that Netflix would be licensing the rights to the IP, not picking up the existing Hulu pilot to series, and the project will undergo redevelopment, including recasting of two of the three Locke children.
