Timeless “Hollywoodland” was written by Matt Whitney and directed by John F Showalter – one of Eric Kripke’s go to directors. The episode features another female historical figure – Heddy Lamar (Alyssa Sutherland) – who people are only just starting to see was a lot more than just a movie star! The episode takes place in Hollywood, California – as you probably guessed – on January 2, 1941.
The episode is filmed on the Paramount lot, which is fun and convenient as the episode begins with a film being shut down for being over budget – and the leads being needed for a television show – “It’s the future!” There are lots of meta references to the business.
Finally, seeing some movement on Jiya’s (Claudia Doumit) seizures/visions. Connor (Paterson Joseph) tells Denise that he already knows what’s wrong with Jiya.
Lucy (Abigail Spencer) is once again stumped about the significance of the Mothership’s jump, and she and Denise (Sakina Jaffrey) make another visit to Flynn (Goran Visnjic).
So many hilarious insider nods! Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) takes the lead in a really surprising way… Rufus finds a woman who might give Jiya a run for her money as his girlfriend. Music helps the team out in a couple of unexpected ways.
The team finds more than one way to solve their disguise problems. Once again, the sleeper agent has established a life that they like. Almost see the birth of fake news.
Look for an amazing performance by Abigail Spencer – that will make the Lyatt fans very happy. The mission changes time in one expected way and two unexpected ways – one of which will have a profound effect upon the team.
Don’t forget to tune in on Sunday 10/9c on NBC to watch "Hollywoodland" – remember we have to fight the future by ensuring that those ratings stay high!!!
