00:55 - Steven Spielberg Wants Stephen King's The Talisman to Become a Movie
Thanks to Darthlocke4 for the heads up.
Steven Spielberg wants to make an adaptation of Stephen King novel The Talisman. Fans are currently living in something of a golden era when it comes to King adaptations. 2017 saw an influx of King-related movies and TV shows, including IT – which is officially the highest grossing R-rated horror movie of all time – Gerald’s Game, 1922, and Mr Mercedes. The long-awaited adaptation of The Dark Tower finally arrived in 2017 too, but despite a great lead performance by Idris Elba, the movie itself was considered a disappointing dud.

19:20 - High Fidelity - TV Series with Female Lead In Development for Disney's Streaming Service
Thanks to Darthlocke4 for the heads up.
EXCLUSIVE: I hear a romantic comedy TV series inspired by Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel High Fidelity and the 2000 feature starring John Cusack is in early development for Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer service. The project, a gender-swapped take on the classic title, comes from writers Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka (Bull, Ugly Betty), the Midnight Radio producing team and ABC Signature Studios (SMILF), the cable/streaming division of ABC Studios. Midnight Radio is comprises Scott Rosenberg — who co-wrote the High Fidelity feature — Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
Written by West and Kucserka, the High Fidelity TV series is described as a departure from the book and the movie while still capturing the romantic comedy and authentic spirit of the original source materials. I hear it centers on a record store owner — a female take on the character played in the movie by Cusack — talking straight to the camera as she chronicles past relationships.
While the Touchstone Pictures movie was rated R, I hear the TV series — an optimistic-in-tone mixtape/diary rom-com — will be PG-13 and intended for family co-viewing, consistent with Disney’s plans for a family-friendly OTT service that is not expected not feature R-rated movies or series.

20:00 - Black-ish Creator Kenya Barris Plots Exit from ABC Studios
Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the Black-ish creator and Girls Trip writer is actively trying to get out of his overall deal with ABC Studios, his creative home since 2015. Barris, who earned a Peabody and two best comedy Emmy nominations for his ABC show, has three years remaining on the lucrative four-year deal he signed in 2017. Those same sources say that Barris is in preliminary talks to join Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy with a mega-deal with Netflix. "Talks are very real," says a source of Barris' potential move to the streaming giant. ABC Studios and Netflix declined to comment; calls and emails to CAA and Principato-Young, who rep Barris, were not returned.
The news comes after a series of tough breaks at ABC. Last month, for instance, ABC yanked a politically themed episode of Black-ish following creative differences between ABC and Barris. At the time, ABC called the decision to scrap it a mutual one between the network and Barris, though sources say otherwise. The episode was poised to feature star Anthony Anderson's Dre relaying his concerns about the current stage of the country to his son. (Black-ish has yet to be renewed for a fifth season, though it is considered a slam dunk to return.) “Given our creative differences, neither ABC nor I were happy with the direction of the episode and mutually agreed not to air it," Barris said at the time. "Black-ish is a show that has spoken to all different types of people and brought them closer as a community and I’m so proud of the series.”

00:15 - Golden Globes - NBC Deal Expires; HFPA Talking to Other Networks
The Golden Globes may be on the move as its longtime TV home NBC failed to close a new deal for the highly rated awards franchise within its exclusive negotiation window.
“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and dick clark productions value our 25-year relationship with NBC and will continue to have discussions with them about extending our television deal. However, as the exclusive negotiation period with NBC has ended, we are evaluating offers from other interested parties,” the companies said in a statement to Deadline.
NBC had been in negotiations with the HFPA and Dick Clark Productions on a new multiyear Golden Globes deal. The most recent contract for the awards show expired with the 2018 telecast on January 7.
The news is somewhat surprising as NBC, which most recently had been reportedly paying just north of $20 million a year for the Globes, had been the show’s TV home since 1993 and had been expected to step up to keep it. The network had first crack at hammering out a new deal, with HFPA and DCP able to approach other interested parties only of they were unable to agree on terms with NBC during their exclusive window.

02:40 - MacGyver - Season 2 - Kamar de los Reyes to Guest
Thanks to Thomas Cori for the heads up.
Looks like Kamar de los Reyes is returning to his cop roots!
Fans of the dearly-departed One Life to Live may remember the actor best as Antonio Vega, the former gang member turned eventual chief of detectives. Since leaving the ABC soap in 2009, the actor has guest-starred in a number of series, from The Mentalist to Sleepy Hollow. And now, he's putting his police hat back on for a guest-starring role on the April 20 episode of MacGyver.
The episode of the CBS drama, titled "Wind + Water," sees MacGyver travel to Puerto Rico to help a friend rebuild his home damaged by Hurricane Maria. While there, he's taken hostage by robbers in a bank, and that's when de los Reyes' Captain Delarosa steps in as first in charge of hostage standoff.

21:45 - $1 - Nike Kadri, Joshua Bitton & Hamilton Clancy Join Cast; Ashlie Atkinson to Recur in CBS All Access Series
CBS All Access has rounded out the cast and begu production on its new mystery thriller drama series $1. Nike Kadri (Seven Seconds, Divorce), Joshua Bitton (The Night Of, The Pacific) and Hamilton Clancy (Orange Is the New Black, Bridge of Spies) are set as series regulars and Ashlie Atkinson (Bull, Blue Bloods) will recur. They join previously announced series regulars John Carroll Lynch, Nathaniel Martello-White, Philip Ettinger, Chris Denham, Kirrilee Berger and Gracie Lawrence, along with recurring cast Leslie Odom Jr., Jeff Perry and Sturgill Simpson. Production began Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
Created by Jason Mosberg, $1 is set in a small Rust Belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill, and point of view in each episode, paints a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed.
Kadri will play Rook, who’s new to the Police Department and eager to prove she’s tough and clever to the chief, the squad, and herself.
Bitton is Chewy, a police officer born and raised in Pittsburgh who has seen it all and is filled with snark. Hard to impress but loyal, he will protect his own at any cost. He’s an unwilling partner to Rook.
Clancy will portray Tom, a veteran cop on the force for many years. He’s well-meaning and a good cop, but there is a reason he’s never been promoted.
Atkinson is Terri Mitchell, one of the few women who work at the steel mill. She can hang with the guys, both tough and warm.

02:45 - Girls Code - Sophia Di Martino & Kirby Howell-Baptiste to Star; Hayley Magnus, Andy Buckley & Rene Gube Join Freeform Comedy Pilot
FREEFORM CASTS ITS LEADS FOR THE PAUL FEIG AND KIM ROSENSTOCK COMEDY PILOT
Original Comedy From Paramount Television, Anonymous Content and Feigco Entertainment
Freeform today revealed the cast for the comedy pilot tentatively titled “Girls Code,” from Emmy®-nominated executive producer and director Paul Feig (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Spy,” “Ghostbusters,” “Bridesmaids”), and writer and creator Kim Rosenstock (“New Girl,” “GLOW”). The pilot follows the odd couple partnership between two former MIT lab partners – Wendy, a brazen, self-centered tech CEO, and Angela, a community-building social entrepreneur – who must try to overcome their many issues and unfavorable history with each other in order to run a groundbreaking, all-female tech incubator.
From Paramount Television, Anonymous Content and Feigco Entertainment, the half-hour women-in-the-workplace comedy pilot written by Rosenstock with Feig directing is currently in production.
Cast in the roles of Wendy and Angela are Sophia Di Martino (“Flowers”) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (“Downward Dog”), respectively. Wendy is a wunderkind robotics engineer and CEO of Lighthouse Industries. While charismatic, successful, confident and seemingly unstoppable, a PR disaster and catastrophic malfunction force her to step back and figure out what to do next. Angela, an equally brilliant professor of engineering, chose to pursue the non-profit side of coding by creating an incubator for up-and-coming female tech entrepreneurs, overseeing a workplace of genius women, young and old, who are on a mission to change the world.
Also joining the cast are Hayley Magnus (“The Dressmaker”) as Wendy’s upbeat, ambitious and hypercompetent assistant Johanna; Andy Buckley (“The Office”) as Wendy’s mentor who often fills a paternal role for her; and Rene Gube (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) as the burnt-out but hardworking chief operating officer of Lighthouse Industries.
“Girls Code” is created by Rosenstock, who also serves as executive producer alongside Feig and Jessie Henderson for Feigco Entertainment. Joy Gorman Wettels (“13 Reasons Why”), who brought the original notion to Feigco and Rosenstock, and Steve Golin serve as executive producers on behalf of Anonymous Content. Feigco’s Dan Magnante will serve as co-producer.
Freeform’s growing slate of original scripted comedies includes smash hit “grown-ish,” executive produced by Kenya Barris and starring Yara Shahidi; critically acclaimed breakout series “The Bold Type”; buddy comedy “Alone Together” from The Lonely Island; and fan favorite “Young & Hungry.”

Tamara Tunie (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) plays Julia Clark, the wry, fast-talking keeper of Austen Media’s beauty closet. She is as good at keeping secrets as she is at hiding blemishes. She is represented by Jamie Hughes of Paradigm Talent Agency.
Alanna Ubach (“Girlfriends Guide To Divorce”) plays Marlowe Buchanan, a former famous sitcom star who lost her job when she returned from hiatus with a few extra pounds and her signature hair style lopped off. She is represented by Jennifer Craig of The Gersh Agency.

She is represented by Jaime Misher at Innovative Artists Agency.
Jen Ponton (“30 Rock”) is Rubi, a resident at Calliope House. She is colorful, exuberant and very opinionated. She is represented by Dustin Flores and Madison Roberts of The Mine.

Based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 best-selling, critically acclaimed novel of the same name, “Dietland” stars Joy Nash (“The Mindy Project,” “Twin Peaks”) as lead Plum Kettle, and Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-winner Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife,” “ER”) as Kitty Montgomery. Noxon (“Mad Men,” “UnREAL”) serves as executive producer, writer, showrunner and directs multiple episodes on the series. Joining Nash and Margulies are series regulars Robin Weigert (“Big Little Lies”) as Verena Baptist, Adam Rothenberg (“Ripper Street”) as NYPD detective Dominic, Tunie as Julia, Erin Darke (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Leeta, Rowena King (“Shut Eye”) as newscaster Cheryl Crane-Murphy, Will Seefried (“The Deuce”) as Ben and newcomers Ricardo Davila as Kitty’s assistant Eladio and Tramel Tillman as Plum’s best friend Steven.
“Dietland” follows Plum Kettle, ghost-writer for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-acceptance. At the same time, everyone is buzzing over news reports about men, accused of sexual abuse and assault, who are disappearing and meeting untimely, violent deaths.
“Dietland” is a co-production between Skydance Television, where Noxon’s Tiny Pyro shingle has an overall deal, and AMC Studios. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross are executive producers, along with Maria Grasso of Tiny Pyro, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and Jacqueline Hoyt.
