In a theme which flows throughout 'Day 408', the second season premiere catches us up with the characters at the funeral of a name partner at Reddick, Boseman & Kolstad.
Maia is also still having legal issues, and Madeline Starkey is hot on her trails throughout the premiere looking for information on Henry Rindell. Her efforts may verge on the extremes, but Maia has both Lucca and Jay in her corner. A game of cat and mouse between the two evoke memories for Maia that delve into her back story further and give us a small insight into someone she was close to as a teenager. Confusion for Maia means confusion for the audience and the hunt for Henry is something that is probably going to be a recurring theme in season 2.
As previously announced, Erica Tazel is no longer a series regular, and Barbara's fate is revealed in the premiere. The way she exits is fitting for her character and the episode, but I was hoping we could have seen more of her before she was written off.
Elsewhere, Diane is between funerals and court, as death seems to surround her. As one lawyer is murdered, Diane may seek solace in unexpected places. Marissa also tries to further her career as a PI.
'Day 408' is an episode that eases us back into the lives and storylines of these characters. Whilst the episode could have been faster paced, it was more concerned with setting the stage for the season.
