Vance returns to the cable network after winning an Emmy for his role in 'People v. O.J. Simpson,' while Parker would have her first ongoing series regular role after 'Weeds.'

The People v. O.J. Simpson Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance is returning to FX.
The actor, who played Johnnie Cochran in the first season of American Crime Story, has been tapped to star alongside Weeds alum Mary-Louise Parker in the cabler's comedy pilot Compliance.
From writer Sarah Burgess, the half-hour comedy revolves around a private equity manager (Vance) and his government-appointed compliance monitor (Parker).
Burgess exec produces the FX Productions and Scott Rudin Productions comedy alongside Rudin, Garret Basch and Eli Bush, with Sam Gold producing and directing.
Compliance expands Vance's relationship with FX beyond O.J. — the actor is also attached to star and produce crime drama Heist 88, which is in development at the John Landgraf-led cabler.
Vance's credits include ER, Masters of Sex and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He is repped by Gersh, Lighthouse Entertainment and Fox Rothschild.
For Parker's part, her recent TV credits include Audience Network's Mr. Mercedes, Showtime's Billions and ABC's When We Rise. Should Compliance go to series, it would be her first regular role in an ongoing series since Weeds. She's repped by UTA and Untitled.
The castings come just as broadcast networks are in the thick of pilot pickups and amid a fierce competition for top talent with cable and streamers looking to book stars at the same time.
