It Likely Won't Happen According to Paul Reiser
Paul Reiser has some bad news for Mad About You fans hoping for a series revival.
"It’s kind of stuck in the business end of it now," the comic, actor and co-creator of NBC’s Emmy-winning sitcom said by phone Monday. "Sony is trying to figure out from their end; that’s where I just walk away and go, call me when you figure it out. I don’t know what happens at that level. They make their deals with whoever they make their deals with. So we’ll see if it happens. It may not happen. It likely won’t happen. My guess is it won’t happen."
"We signed up, and then it’s gotten stuck in the business end of it," he said. "It’s like, ‘You know, guys, I was very happy not doing it for 20 years, and then you invited us back. And now if you can’t make it happen, it’s not a big deal.’ Things happen, they don’t happen. There’s so many moving parts when you’re working with a studio or broadcaster."

One of the Outlets Being Pitched to Is CBS
Following months of discussions that producers Sony Pictures TV and stars Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser want to revive the former NBC comedy, CBS is among the outlets being pitched the potential reboot.
"It has been pitched; it is still being discussed," CBS exec vp Thom Sherman told reporters Wednesday, following his network's pre-upfront press briefing in New York.
While Sony is pitching and attempting to sell the revival, sources note that there is no deal in place and the indie studio is said to be aggressively shopping the reboot idea to multiple outlets.

Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt Close Deals to Return for Revival
Mad About You just took a major step toward being revived with its original series stars.
Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt have just closed deals with Sony Pictures Television to reprise their Mad About You roles, EW has learned exclusively. Co-creator Danny Jacobson is also on board to return. The deals follow months of negotiations to try and bring back the 1990s series, which aired on NBC from 1992 to 1999.
The next step is shopping Mad About You to a network. Given the rather spectacular ratings success of ABC’s reboot of Roseanne, as well as the solid performance of NBC’s revived Will & Grace, there are likely to be multiple potential suitors.

Revival in Development
Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that the independent studio has had informal talks for a potential eighth season of the Emmy-nominated comedy that starred Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt. No deals are in place and a network is not currently attached. Sony TV declined comment.
Both Reiser, who co-created the series alongside Danny Jacobson, and Hunt would return for the revival. NBC, which aired all seven seasons of the comedy, is not currently in the mix for the reboot, which would be set in the present day and follow Paul and Jamie in the wake of their 17-year-old daughter, Mabel's college acceptance. (That would also indicate that the series finale, which jumped ahead two decades, would be totally disregarded a la the Will and Grace and Roseanne revivals.)

Multiple sources reveal to TVLine exclusively that Sony, which produced the beloved NBC sitcom, Mad About You, has begun informal talks with leads Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt about bringing the series back for a limited run. Reiser, who also co-created Mad About You with Danny Jacobson, is allegedly leading the charge to resurrect the show. A Sony rep declined to comment for this story.
According to an insider, the new episodes would likely revolve around Paul and Jamie grappling with empty-nest syndrome in the wake of now-17-year-old daughter Mabel’s admission to college.
