CBS is developing another show with Dr. Phil McGraw.
The network is working on a new procedural called “The Source,” which follows a millennial investigative reporter who teams with an LAPD detective. Together they make use of her dogged brand of investigating outside the bounds of the law in order to expose crime and wrong doing.
McGraw and his son Jay will executive produce the drama via their Stage 29 Productions, with Stage 29’s vice president of development Julia Eisenman also executive producing. Amanda Green wrote the script and will serve as an executive producer. Shelley Ross will serve as co-executive producer. CBS Television Studios, where Stage 29 is set up under a first-look deal, will produce.
Should the project move forward, it would be the second McGraw-produced scripted project on CBS. The McGraws currently executive produce the legal procedural “Bull” for the network, which is inspired by Dr. Phil’s career as the head of a trial consulting firm. That show is currently airing its second season. CBS Television Distribution is also the distributor of Stage 29’s “Dr. Phil,” TV’s number one daytime talk show, and “The Doctors.”
