Michael Harney (Orange is the New Black) and Ksenia Solo (TURN: Washington’s Spies, In Search of Fellini) have joined the series regular cast of History’s scripted drama series Blue Book, executive produced by Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis.
Created and written on spec by David O’Leary, the 10-episode Blue Book chronicles the true top secret U.S. Air Force-sponsored investigations into UFO-related phenomena in the 1950s and ’60s, known as “Project Blue Book.” The series follows Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen), a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation that researched thousands of cases, many of which were never solved. Each episode will draw from the actual files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history. The series hails from A+E Studios and Compari Entertainment, a division of Zemeckis’ ImageMovers.
Harney will play USAF General Hoyt Vandenberg. A sage of a man with a long, decorated military career, the powerful yet also morally concerned Vandenberg works closely with his partner General Nathan Twining overseeing Project Blue Book, hiding the truth about UFOs from the public for reasons of national security.
Solo will portray Susie. A stylish, eye-catching young woman with an alluring confidence to envy, Susie is new in town when she becomes fast friends with Dr. Hynek’s wife, Mimi (Laura Mennell). But, as the two bond over similar interests, empowering one another, we’ll soon learn Susie is far more than she initially appears.
