I Hate the Internet - Drama from Chelsea Handler Based on Best-Seller in Development at TNT

Chelsea Handler is returning to the scripted side.

The comedian and host of her own Netflix talk show is teaming with TNT to develop Jarett Kobek's best-seller I Hate the Internet as a potential drama series. The project, which is in development, will be executive produced by Handler.

Here's how the drama is described: "The series will examine the true cost of the information superhighway on our values, our relationships and our psyches. Set around a 40-year-old woman’s Internet shaming, this funny yet incisive story asks some of the important questions of our time — Why have humans become so eager, on sites like Twitter and Facebook, to give away their intellectual property to wealthy white men? And what has happened to true political dialogue? Is sharing 140-character morality lectures with self-curated social networks enough? And, why in today’s America is hate becoming the only thing that unites us?"

Turner's Studio T and Studio 8's Katherine Pope will exec produce. Michael Morris (Bloodline) will also exec produce alongside author Kobek.
