Malcolm McDowell is set to appear on the upcoming third season of the NBC medical drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Golden Globe-nominated actor will play Dr. Jaffrey, a distinguished, erudite world renowned heart surgeon. Dr. Jaffrey also happens to be the mentor of Dr. Bekkar (Norma Kuhling), Dr. Rhodes' (Colin Donnell) new workplace rival. Dr. Bekkar was introduced at the end of season two as a new, highly competitive Cardiothoracic Fellow. McDowell is set to pop up in the ninth episode of the season.
Despite Chicago Med's later return, the series will still run close to a full season with 20 episodes set for season three (just shy of the normal 22-episode order.)
