“Black Lightning” has cast Chantal Thuy in a recurring role for the show’s first season.
Thuy – who has recently appeared in “Madam Secretary” and “Pretty Little Liars” – will play Grace Choi, a bartender who becomes the love interest of Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams). Grace is a comic book fan who befriends Anissa while she is coming to terms with her abilities and becomes Anissa’s first confidant about the struggles and challenges of having abilities.
Choi was created by Judd Winick and Tom Raney and her first appearance in DC Comics was in “Outsiders” #1 in 2003. She was the daughter of a Bana Amazon which gave her greater strength and resilience. She worked as a bouncer in a meta-human nightclub before being recruited into the Outsiders – a group created by Batman to complete missions the Justice League couldn’t – by Arsenal and Nightwing.
