The comedy from creator Stephen Falk has cast The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital actress Robin Riker to guest-star in two episodes of the show's fourth season.
Riker will play Fay Cottumaccio, Lindsay (Kether Donohue) and Becca's (Janet Varney) mother. The character was a well-known actress in the 1980s, and she has come to town for a role on a sitcom. As they fight for their mother's love and attention, Lindsay and Becca begin to unpack the elements of their childhood that may have led to their present-day problems.
Falk noted that season four finds Lindsay "trying to figure out her place in the world." He continued: "What is she now that she's no longer just a wife or a best friend? She's trying to operate in a professional situation while still retaining her Lindsay-ness and that's difficult for her," he said. "She has to put on this act, and really early on she realizes that that doesn't garner her any favors. So she tries to figure out if you can be the disgusting mess that Lindsay is in a professional situation."
