10 One-Hour Episodes To Premiere in 2018

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 10, 2017 - Leading up to the highly anticipated season finale tomorrow, Oct. 11 at 8pm ET/PT, AUDIENCE Network is pleased to announce that it has picked up this year's break out show, "Mr. Mercedes," for a second season. Production for the 10 one-hour episodes is scheduled to begin in February of 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina with the premiere launching later in the year. The series is produced by Sonar Entertainment.

Returning for the second season will be television veterans David E. Kelley (Big Little LIes, Ally McBeal) to write the script and Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome) as director. King, Kelley and Bender will also continue to serve as executive producers, along with Dennis Lehane, who will also write. The second season will be based on King's best-selling Bill Hodges Trilogy, which includes, "Mr. Mercedes," "Finders Keepers" and "End of Watch."

"I'm excited and thrilled," said Kelley. "Stephen King, Dennis Lehane, Jack Bender, Brendan Gleeson... this is a special team indeed."

"Mr. Mercedes is Stephen King writing about the monsters inside his characters rather than outside," said Bender. "We were extremely fortunate to attract an amazing cast, led by Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, to bring these flawed, complex colorful characters to life. With Sonar and AT&T, along with great scripts and our talented team in Charleston, I am thrilled to keep telling this story."

"We're thrilled that the first installment of 'Mr. Mercedes' resonated with such a wide audience," said Christopher Long, head of AT&T AUDIENCE Network. "David E. Kelley, Jack Bender, Dennis Lehane, and Sonar did a masterful job crafting a series that honored the original work by Stephen King. We're excited to have the opportunity to create a second season with this incredible team."

"AT&T AUDIENCE Network has been a great home for the series and we are thrilled to be moving forward with the entire creative team returning," added Tom Lesinski, CEO, Sonar Entertainment. "We can't wait to get back into production and deliver another outstanding season."

Season 1 of "Mr. Mercedes" followed a demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Stephen King describes "Mr. Mercedes" as his first hard-boiled detective tale. The novel was published by Scribner in June 2014 and became an immediate No. 1 New York Times Bestseller upon its release. Shortly after the release of the novel, King announced that "Mr. Mercedes" was the first of a projected trilogy. The second novel, "Finders Keepers," was published by Scribner in June 2015, and the third novel, "End of Watch," was published by Scribner in June 2016.

"Mr. Mercedes" season 1 episodes are available OnDemand on DIRECTV and U-verse platforms to DirecTV and U-verse customers. AT&T AUDIENCE Network is available on DIRECTV Ch. 239 or U-verse TV Ch. 1114 and via live streaming on the DIRECTV and U-verse apps and DIRECTV NOW.

Thanks to Dumble for the heads up

EXCLUSIVE: The Men in Black are back. Sony Pictures has fast tracked a spinoff of its billion-dollar alien franchise. The studio today will stake out a May 17, 2019, release date for an untitled film that has a script by Matt Holloway & Art Marcum, the writers of Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones aren’t expected to reprise, but the film acknowledges and builds on the world they inhabited. Holloway & Marcum have scripted a contemporary sci-fi pic about the black-clad secret force that protects earth from the alien scum of the universe, focusing on new characters chasing villains that put the picture on more of a global scale than the two previous films. The ambition is akin to the way that Jurassic World rebooted and expanded that franchise. The MiB spinoff film is being produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. They are actively involved in meeting with top directors right now and expect to land one quickly.

HULU LOCKS IN EXCLUSIVE U.S. SUBSCRIPTION STREAMING RIGHTS TO FAN FAVORITES "BOY MEETS WORLD," "HOME IMPROVEMENT" AND "DINOSAURS"

New Licensing Agreement with Disney-ABC Television Group to Mark the Subscription Streaming Debut of Even More of America's Favorite Sitcoms from the '90s to Hulu

SANTA MONICA, CA (September 29, 2017) -- Today Hulu announced a new agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group for the exclusive U.S. subscription video-on-demand rights to all episodes of iconic sitcoms Boy Meets World, Home Improvement and Dinosaurs. The deal will mark the long-awaited SVOD debut of the complete libraries of hit series Boy Meets World and Home Improvement. In addition, all episodes of fan favorite Dinosaurs, from The Jim Henson Company, will also become available to stream in SVOD exclusively on Hulu. All titles will begin streaming on Hulu September 29th.

The series will join hundreds of episodes of previously announced hit shows from America's favorite Friday night lineup from the 1990s on Hulu - including Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper - and the agreement will make Hulu the exclusive subscription streaming home to the largest collection of series from the original "TGIF" lineup with the addition of Boy Meets World and Dinosaurs. All series launch exclusively on the service beginning September 29th, just in time for the 30th Anniversary of Full House and the 25th Anniversary of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.

After premiering in the 1990s as part of ABC's "TGIF" lineup, Boy Meets World became a hit family series that went on to air for seven seasons. The series remains just as beloved to date and has been syndicated, as well as inspired spinoffs. The complete series will make its subscription streaming debut on Hulu on September 29th.

Emmy(R) Award- and Golden Globe(R)-winning sitcom Home Improvement was one of the most-watched sitcoms of the 1990s. Based loosely on the standup comedy of series star Tim Allen, the series ran on ABC from 1991 to 1999 and has never been available through a subscription streaming service.

Lastly, cult favorite "TGIF" series, Dinosaurs, will also become available to stream on Hulu on September 29th. After airing in the 1990s under ABC's original "TGIF" lineup, the family sitcom from Jim Henson Productions was recognized for its efforts to cover topical issues including environmentalism and endangered species, and still inspires numerous cultural references today.

The news emphasizes Hulu's commitment to bringing together some of the most iconic and popular series throughout the years, all on one platform. In July, Hulu announced a separate deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for the exclusive streaming video on-demand rights to all episodes of iconic series Full House, Family Matters, Step By Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
